Not today.

I was supposed to go get these drains out today, but still draining too much, so cancelled.  The PS told me if I was still draining like this to move it to Wed and not make the 3+ hour round trip commute for nothing.  So I will try on Wednesday.  It is looking better and the draining is slowing down a little.  I think by Wednesday I will be good.  I am right on his "borderline" for having them removed.  Well, I hope everyone is doing well this Monday morning.  Have a blessed day!

I'm sorry to hear that Jennifer.... but it is better to have the drain and have that coming out than staying in, right? How's the marble doing?
I see my PS tomorrow.....see what he says about having a fluid pocket in there .

Hi Martha! Yes, you are right it is better to have them in than fluid build up.  I am more accepting today than last week.  My folks left this morning so I already have carried the baby and stuff.  That is a bit straining. DH drove the kids to school so it is just me and baby today.  I will have to drive to the bus stop to pick them up this afternoon.  I think I will be fine.   The marble is doing good. My son wants to know if he can have it when I am done with it!! LOL

I hope your Dr. apt. goes well tomorrow. Keep me posted.

Good luck to you on Wednesday, hope you can get them out but don't ru**** My surgeon told me that once the drains are producing 30cc or less each for a 24 hour period for three days straight  that she can take them out, no sooner than that since you risk seromas and having to have the fluid aspirated later. What guidelines do you have from your surgeon? My drains seem to produce more when I am active. I guess I am kind of getting used to them, I went out yesterday for a good part of the day and was able to conceal them pretty good. They don't really hurt or anything so I'll have them as long as they need to be in. How long have you had yours in? I am wondering if the longer they are in the harder it is to pull them out.

Well, take care and good luck in your journey.

Jen,

I had my drains removed 12 days post-op.  It's much better to be cautious than to end up with a hematoma or seratoma.

Best wishes for Wednesday removal but, if it doesn't happen, it's not the worst thing.

Thanks. Lisa.  I have had them since the 3rd.  My guidelines are the same...less than 30 in 24 hours.  I am right there...28-30 since Saturday.  I am getting used to them too.  But REALLY want them out.  Mostly because of the kids.  It is hard to hold the baby because she actidentally pulls them.  I know it is for the best and I am dealing much better.  Thanks for the input ladies.  Again, I can't even put into words how awesome the support on this board is!!

Hi Jennifer,
That happened to me after my TT.  I ended up having the drain for about 18 days I think.... I too have a 3+ round-trip so the surgeon didn't make me drive in until it was below 20 CC.

The good thing to always remember about the fluid draining is....BETTER OUT THAN IN!  If they are pulling fluid it's a good thing 'cause otherwise it will be in your body and you will swell!!!!!   So I don't mind the drains, up to a point....but I am always thrilled when they are all gone!

Hope you get them out on Weds.
Best wishes!!
