Questions about plastic surgery
I had to pay a $75 consulting fee at the PS in town. I am having PS 10 mos after my WLS. My weight has been stable for over 3 months and I am at the thinnest I would ever want to be--fitting in size 0 - 2 slacks. I would say you would want to be pretty close to your goal and stable for a few months so body can adjust and shift where its going to shift before PS.

I had a PS consult with a surgeon at Virginia Mason in Seattle yesterday. In my case, a panniculectomy is the only thing I will have in conjunction with my WLS. It is important to note this procedure is considered reconstructive vs cosmetic surgery - a very very important distinction when it comes to what a consult costs and if it can be covered by insurance. With Medicare, this procedure is covered, and my consult was free with a supplement plan. It is also very important to choose a surgeon who has good experience with post-WLS patients b/c this procedure is vastly different for us than with patients having cosmetic surgery. In my area, the costs vary widely depending on which hospital the procedure is done in, and self-pay patients can usually recieve deep discounts and even financing.
