How Long and How Often ????
Just wondering... I wear my compression garments and bra everyday all day and nite, My LBL and BA were on Nov. 3rd so about 5 weeks I know I am suppose to wear them for 3 months (my surgeons reccomendation) However, I am starting to hate them but I know the importance of wearing them especially when working since I do physical work. So..... I sometimes wear my store bought Spanx or Lipo in a box and the surgeon's compression garment over that during the day. The only time I remove them is to shower but immeadiately after they go right back on sleep and everything. Today when I got home I decided to give my bod a break and have decided to leave it off for an hour or two.
I was just wondering how often then rest of you wear them - 24/7 or do take breaks too???? How long are you going to wear them??? I do not have any real swelling to speak of probably because I wear them so I will continue Ijust wanted to hear how the rest handle them.
Thx for any input
Cheers

I had my tt and bl/ba almost 4 months ago and I still wear my compression garment daily. During the day I wear a Flexee brand compression garment and at night I wear one of the medical approved compression garment my doctor gave me. After I take a shower I normally walk around the house without any compression garment for 1-2 hours.

5 weeks out is still early out so I would wear it 24/7. That said I'm 6 months out and wear it almost 24/7. I stopped wearing it a night a while back but I was still waking up swollen so I went back to wearing it. Now keep in mind we do not all swell the same. I'm a sweller so I need the constant compression. I don't put my legs up at all until I go to bed so maybe that has something to do with it. I think you it really depends on your body and how you feel. If you notice that you don't swell too much, then you can probably get away with longer breaks. Besides the swelling, the garments also helps shape your body so I suggest you wear it at least during the day. Believe me, you will know when you need it!
I wear Spanx all day and so at bed time I lay down and massage Almond Oil over my incisions and rest from the compression for a short time. Usually no more than an hour or so. I don't usually walk around much with out it either -- maybe 30 minutes or so in the morning after my shower.

Having had a slew of procedures all at once, I have the breast/arm garment and the lbl/thigh garment...and the doctor gave me 2 of each. I also had a Lipo-in-a-box bust to calf garment from a few years back, which I never wore.
I rotate all three sets. I do still wear them all day, all night but the L-I-A-B one is less compressive. It is tight and holds me well, looks wonderful (!!) AND I can breathe without pain, unlike the Veronique garments the doctor provided. So, one day I wear the 2 part deal, then L-I-A- B,,then the OTHER 2 parter, then the L-I-A-B one again. Always compressed, often but not always comfortable and in any event ...covered. And when I wear the 2 part deal at night, I unzip it and unhook a few of the hooks or I just cannot get comfortable.
I know a woman who is over a year out and still wears hers every day. It smooths her, feels good and she is used to it.
I am, planning on this regime for the months to come but hope to not have to once the warmer weather comes back. It WILL come back, right??

I had my LBL / BL/BA on the same day as you did & I still wear mine everyday & night, but I do leave it off an hour or so after my shower! but my surgeon's recommendations were to wear it 24/7 for 6 weeks. Then I could take it off at night while sleeping. I think I am just so used to it now it doesn't really bother me anymore...
