Out 1 week today!

Its been exactly 1 week today from my surgery! If you had asked me if I would be feeling this much better on postop day 1-2 one week later I would not have believed myself. It does get better but don't be fooled...it is still painful at times and sore ALL the time. Just a little less every day. I got 3 out of 4 drains out yesterday. Yeah! Looks like this 4th one will be here for a little while. No big deal though. It is a relief to start getting them out. I am having issues with my incisions in my private area. They all look good but very raw since it is hard to keep them dry. I have found that I have to put this neosporin type cream on them a couple times a day (given by my PS) so they don't rub against my garment. The gauze seems to twist around and not give a good barrier. Any tips for this area is appreciated. I have a hard time peeing since it tends to leak on the gauze or incsicsions which then burns a little. I am concerned with this. Again any tips are helpful :-). Other than that everything is healing quite good and am thrilled with Dr S work. He is awesome! He tries to come by the hotel every day but does not make it all the time since we have him so busy! He has 4 of us girls in the hotel and in surgery with another today..Anyway, just wanted to give a quick update.

take care,

I'm glad things are getting better for you. I can totally relate to the groin incisions. They were the most challenging for me too. You can take a dixie cup and cut the bottom out and you can gently hold that against you when you pee. It helps to direct the flow but it's not perfect. I would get my gauze wet too. I just changed the bandages often. Keep applying the neosporin, it helps to keep a waterproof barrier. Hang in there, Girlie. You are past the hardest part!

Thanks for the tip! I will be looking for dixie cups at the HEB this morning!!! I sometimes get to the point I dread going to the restroom! Thanks again and I will let you know how that goes.

Great idea about the dixie cup! I'm glad to hear that you are feeling so much better. At one week out (and having SO much less done) I was still a mess. Now at 10 days I am still quite sore and really starting to itch! Good sign I guess, it means that I am healing.

I went Christmas shopping for exactly 15 minutes yesterday and was exhausted!

Take care

 Tammy,

My Mom is bringing an empty suitcase just so we have room to bring stuff home. She gets 2 "free" where I only get 1 free... Gotta love the MOMS!!

Thanks for being so straight forward about it. It helps me a lot to know what to expect. I am scared of a thigh lift for some reason. I am still trying to decide if I will get it or not.

Me too about the thigh lift. I cannot decide if it will heal correctly and be worth the pain.
