How did you justify your surgery?

Hello friends!

So you know how most of us women are, we take care of everyone else before ourselves!

I lost 95 pounds and feel great, I really am discusted with stomach, arms, breasts, and thighs. You know the deal if you've lost a lot of weight....

I am looking to schedule an extended tummy tuck and breast lift, but I'm freaked out at the expense.

How do I justify spending that kind of money???  My husband is totally supportive so I don't even need to convince him, just wondering how other people "justified" it to themselves?

thanks!

I percieve this as my "finish line" to my weight loss journey and transformation. Nothing wrong with it. ; ) I am figuring out how to pay for it yet... wishing you the very best hon.

I really had to convince myself rather than justify it.  My "light bulb" moment was realizing that obesity causes just as much damage to your skin as it does the rest of body.  My skin has been damaged beyond natural repair.  I have to pay to repair this damage.

I'm single so I didn't have to convince anyone but myself to spend the money and have the work done.  That said, it all comes down to priorities.  I consider my four rounds of surgery the Mercedes that isn't sitting in the garage.  People think nothing of spending $45,000 on an automobile that depreciates.  I'm driving a 7 year old car and my body is my "Mercedes."   My plastic surgery was a much wiser investment than any car, and it makes me feel a whole lot better than any car ever would!

Others spend their money on expensive vacations, jewelry, home improvement, expensive hobbies. . . . . At the end of the day, there was nothing I wanted more than to fix myself up after my weight loss.  I'm glad I was able to work and get the money to pay for it.  And it was worth every penny.

You're right.  It is hard to justify putting ourselves first.  My husband is also very supportive.  I wonder if he just wants what I want for myself or if he is just really grossed out.  Either way it really comes down to what I want.

I've thought about all the other things I could do with that money but think investing in myselft as a good investment.  I feel I have one last shot at the body I always wanted to have and I'm only half way there without PS.  I've spent too many years dissappointed in how I look.  Now I want it all.

Hope that doesn't sound too selfish.

Yes, that's kind of my thoughts too, I don't want to waste my life being discusted with my body everytime I take a bath, shower, or get undressed!

My youngest son when I explained to him about getting plastics he said to me "I totally understand, Mom.  It's kinda your reward for getting the weight off...  the light at the end of the tunnel."

He definitely got a big hug.

I know that because I really don't have a lot of hanging skin, that my surgery really is all for vanity.  I feel like it's my mid life crisis and the plastic surgery is my version of the red sports car.  The VSG and losing weight gave me so much confidence and I think this last bit will really help with that as well.

That being said, I could not justify what it would cost to have it done in the US.   It wasn't until I found Dr. Sauceda in Mexico through this forum and saw his great results and heard about all the good experiences that I decided to do it since it felt safe and was affordable.
