*I had a FTT w/ MR & lipo 3wks ago*

I posted this in another board...so I thought I'd share here as well:

Had my sx, im back to hunching over like day one and Im taking 3 different antibiotics and 1 antibiotic shots (given by the doctor...which I have 2 more to take).  Im sleeping like crazy, but I am doing better with drinking more water.  I still dont care to eat; so, Im taking in some homemade soup...which is still a challenge.  My temp is at 98.3 and I had the most perfect rest this morning.

So, my PS opens me up again and the good news is I did not have pus, it was all "bad blood" (think hematoma) and a lot of it (if I would have waited another wk or so, it could have formed into pus).  Doc went in and drained the blood out, my tummy isnt as hard or swollen as it was when I went in/started with my fever, but Im still swollen (if that makes sense).  My BB is looking better (it was starting to turn green...day before yesterday) and it seem to have gotten smaller (thank god)...he did some work on it as well.

B/c I am on these antibiotics, I cannot wear the binder (thank god).  My doctor claims, I will still have the same results as if I was wearing a binder & for me not to worry, that he is pleased with the results...u know the same ole spill.

Oh and I have a lovely drain put back in my pubic area!!   But, I'll tell ya what, I rather have the drain in than to feel like I did when I had the fever/infection...that was NO JOKE!  (Im not draining blood, Im draining seroma).

OH BOY!
Sorry you had to go thru this but glad you are on the mend.
Take it easy and continue to listen to your body.  I'm a big believer in we have to know what feels right and what just doesn't seem right AND we have to let the surgeon know when something doesn't seem right....you just never know!  Better safe than sorry!!

Take care!!

Sorry to hear you had a complication. Expect to have a little more prolonged swelling from your reoperation, but your final result should be unchanged.

I hope this event is kind of a teachable moment as to some of the real complications that exist with this kind of surgery, even 3 weeks out in this instance. I get a little concerned with some of the enthusiasm on Obesity Help for people flying out of the country for these procedures as these complications can present long after you've returned home. You do not want to be trying to find someone on short notice to manage your acute or subacute complications from these procedures. Preferably you should be within driving distance of your surgeon for follow up of major body contouring procedures.

I really hope you are feeling better.  And I definately feel your (intense) pain!  I had nosocomially acquired MRSA after my c-section in June and it was the most horrible experience!  Cellulitis causing my once small abdomen to hang to my knees.  I had to be re-admitted to the hospital the day after I was discharged and spend 72 hours on vancomycin protocol.  All of this with three children at home, one of whom was my 3 day old newborn.  Spending the first days of your babies life away from him is NOT good for the sanity of a new mom.
Knowing that I had these bugs and that they could be still lurking in my flora really scares me.
Oh well, I lived to tell.  I really do hope you recover completely soon!  My prayers are with you.
