Stitches....over a year later?!?!
Okay had a LBL over a year ago....am happy with the results but more black stitches are coming to the surface...anybody else had this? It is making my incision line feel uncomfortable. Had surgery in Mexico...trying to get into someone local to get the new ones removed. Any one else had issues with this? How long will this go on?

Thx for asking this questiosn as I am only 5 weeks out and still have stitches coming up in places thought it was abnormal and am going to ask my surgeon on the 14th when I go in seems like they should be gone by now. If you don't get an answer I will post again and let you know what my doc says.

I know someone told me they do six layers for the lbl, or that my surgeon did...I had some taken out weeks after surgery and had one a few months ago come to the surface...looked sort of like a pimple...a red bump...they just don't heal right when they are there...but now I have a bunch I don't even know how many since I can feel them on my back but can't count them...Let me know what you find out. I don't post on this board much since I am done with PS for the time being....maybe forever....thanks!!

HI Deb, Do you have post PS pics? Would you consider making me your friend so I can see them? I see all the fresh post ops but I am SO curious about one year out and beyond, can't seem to see any scars or results posted after time has passed.... Thanks, Robin

Normally, the stitches are clear like fishing line. They are dissolvable, but they will spit out. Dark sutures might have been permanent ones and there have been some people posting on this board have had issues with sutures causing lots of problems with their LBL with Dr. Q. You might want to check back and see if you can find post on that.
Most of us will not have sutures spit after that length of time as they would have dissolved. You might check with your primary doctor about removing those sutures.

Thanks Jennie,
They are black and it was with Dr. Q. I have had black and blue stitches...never saw clear ones. I have an appt with my regular doc to take them out tomorrow, some are still under the skin. I will see if I can find a back posting but if anyone knows what it was under or who it was, please let me know!
thanks!
