Unfortunately, this is perfectly normal.

What really baffles me, though, is how they get an unconscious person into that garment on the operating table.

Well Teri, since you know I have an AWESOME surgery memory (LOL hee hee), I do remeber them putting the garment on me. There was a nurse on either side of me, yammering to each other in spanish, surely saying (based on the look on their faces) "how the hell are we going to get her into this?!" They shimmied, they shook, they pulled...and voila...a sausage was born.

They didnt put one on me cuz they got the wrong size. It arrived the next day and after I took a shower, Esmarela stuffed me into it.

I think I am happy about that. And so glad I did not wake up at any point while in the OR. (go back to sleep! LOL)

BTW, the vitacilina arrived...thank soooo much!!

I think mine is too big!  I think I need at least 1 size smaller maybe even two.  I've worn tight compression garments, I know how they feel and this one does not feel tight at all.  I can actually pull about an inch or so that is loosely gathered around the hips.....

I'm curous, which compression garments do they give you to wear post surgery? Or do they make you buy your own?

Tammy, Kat is right...I could not sit up comfortably and breathing was tough. At night I would unzip that sucker and even undo some of the hooks. It was just terribly tight, uncomfy and necessary.

It will loosen up over time, but not right away, When I got home, I tried on a Lipo-in-a-box shaper I bought 3 years ago...it was an XL, vs the L garments that Dr S provided, but still has lots of compression so I rotated that into my wardrobe and it is really nice. It is an all-in-one bra to midcalf shaper...looks great and I put the arm/bust garment over it. It is tons more comfy since it has no hooks to dig in and no zipper...just yank on it til it is in place.

You will adjust, but the first 2 weeks are the toughest. Glad you are healing well. DEE too!!

Hugs to you both!

Once they get washed a couple of times they give a little!  I am 6 weeks out & mine feels a little loose now, I think I am going to go shopping for a diff one & contimue to wear it... at least for anotherr 2 weeks, I have gotten so accustomed to the constriction I kinda like it in a weird sort of non-massachistic kind of way!
