Back in the land of the living

Wow, this surgery has definately not been a walk in the park for me! Everyone that has been to Mexico before me has seemed to make it so much easier..but I am now feeling better. Got my IV out today along with a shower. It felt so good to get this hair washed! I should be going to the hotel tonight depending on my pain management now that it is oral. Dr S says that if I dont go tonight then it will be Wednesday since he has surgery with Heather tomorrow. Yeah Heather!!!!

Has anyone woke up from surgery and their face was swollen big time? I literally looked like an alien. It has gone down some today but wowsers! I will post the pic I had the nurse take yesterday morning. Crazy..

I am going to post my whole ordeal on my blog with some initial after pictures. Right now I dont see much of a difference because anything he did is being puffed up by my swelling with exception to the girlies :-).

 

Hi Tammy...I'm sorry that you are not feeling at ur best.   I am glad that you made it out ok.  I still have three weeks to go so I am not much help on the swelling and such...I wish you all the best on ur recovery!!!  

Hang in there Tammy! Isnt it amazing how having your hair washed helps!! I will be praying for you to recover by leaps and bounds from here on!!

Glad you are feeling better today. I can not wait to see pictures.

Did you have the post-op headache everyone else had??

Nope I didn't...although I did have this underlying headache (more like pressure)..nothing bad but one of those where you think it will flare up into one but it never did, thank goodness.

 OMG are you kidding?? I was a mess the first few days. As soon as I woke up the day after my surgery, my hand had swallowed my IV is was so swollen, and my eyes were half swollen shut. I looked like I did 80 lbs ago. Horrifying!! That lasted for days too. When we went out to dinner with Dr. S, I said "thanks for the free face lift"..meaning the swelling sure filled out my lines. Unfortunately, I also looked like the hunch back of Notre Dame. The second the swelling in my face started to resolve, my legs blew up, and the swelling eventually migrated to my ankles. By the end of week 1 I couldn't wear my tennis shoes and had to switch to flip flops.

Goodness..at least I am not the only one that woke up that way! I guess I have the swelling elseware to look forward to. My ankles are a little swollen but I think below the waste is helping because I have one of the garments that go down to my calves...maybe not..who knows :-). I am in for the long haul (or swell) as it may well be :-)

I woke up an alien! Don't mind the hairdo..goes with the alien costume :-)

Chi-Chi's little bigger than expected but I am sure some is swelling...better to go a little bigger than too small as my husband said :-)

If you look back at my posts, I was a hurting girl for those first 2 days and was a blubbering mess!  The shower made a huge difference, and I had a ton of swelling in my face.  You can see it in the picture of me when I was laying on the couch in the clinic. 

Hang in there because it will be worth it!
