anyone rent a "lift" chair after tummy tuck
my surgery is scheduled for Jan 6th -- I am thinking of renting a electric lift chair.
I know when I had my 2 c-sections, it was hard to get from a sitting postion to a standing. My thought is the tummy tuck with lipo on butt/hips will be even harder
did anyone rent such a chair?
also how did you sleep?

July 2007 = lap band ...Sept 2010: lap band removed....Dec 2010 VSG
HW: 283... VSG SW: 244 .. got down to 170 -- now at 193 and "back on track" ....GW: 155
I have slept in the bed with pillows under my legs and lots behind my head. That has actually worked out very well. I had a hernia repair, but no other muscle work. I heard lipo is the worst of it.
12/09 and 6/11, 9 skin removal procedures with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico
Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.

Hi!
My tummy tuck recovery was really rather easy for me.
I slept the first 3 nights in a regular recliner chair (no lift on it). After that I moved into my bed and kept myself propped up with lots of pillows. It worked just fine for me.
To get up from a laying down position I would bend my knees and wrap my arm around one and then kind of pull myself forward (hope that made sense). It worked so well for me...made it very easy for me to get up and out of bed on my own.
To get up out of the recliner I used my upper leg muscles which were strong so it was easy for me.
I spent most of my time propped up in bed with my legs elevated above my chest (legs need to be higher than the heart to help reduce swelling).
Hope that helps....

I had an extended TT with muscle repair, plus lipo to my back and legs. The first 3 days I was in the hospital and had an adjustable bed which helped me a lot to get up and down- a lot. After that I didn't have anything..no recliner of any sort that is. I'm not gonna lie, the first two days of that was rough because morning is the most difficult time, but I didn't have any trouble getting from sitting to standing during the day. Its just the sleeping part. If someone had been there to let me grab their hand, I would have been more than fine. In fact, even in the hospital, it was the bed rails that were the most helpful.
I totally agree with Katie. The bed rails are life savors. I will be moving to the hotel soon so I will have to figure that one out.

Had TT on Oct 21st. The lift recliner was my BEST FRIEND. I was able to get up & down by myself with very little discomfort from day 1. To be able to just lean back into the chair & get my legs above my heart without having to struggle was well worth the $100.00 rental fee. Others on here talk about having little problems without lift recliner but with having only 1 1/2 arms I was not able to use my arms as much to help me. I'm really glad I got the chair!!!
I would suggest that you go to a medical supply store(hospital might have one) they have these railings that you can slide under your matress that work pretty good, I had a panniculectomy and it helps a great deal in getting out of bed. You can probably find them on line also. Mine was $50.
Good luck

I borrowed the lifting recliner from my friends and boy was that helpful. I had an LBL & Brachio done in July and loved having the lift to help me stand and sit. Not the most comfortable to sleep in overnight however since it didn't go back that far. Used a regular recliner for that for 5 days then moved to the couch w/ pillows under my legs. For my latest surgery of the MTL & BA/BL I don't use the recliner much. Was more comfortable on the couch.
