I think the pont is that regardless of surgeon expertise, its the facility that counts...i.e. the ability to have equipment and personnel in place to quickly diagnose and treat a siutation.

It is part of my questions list. I see Dr. Sauceda in 2 weeks in Monterrey and will ask him, since it is one of my concerns too. My guess, is that they send you in the nearest hospital...but I want to hear it from him.

I will keep you posted!

Thanks Amarylis!  When are you thinking of having surgery.  Last time I asked Dr. Sauceda said he could get me in mid January.

I asked this question to Dr S while researching him and he told me that the Cristus Muguerza hospital is 100 yards away if needed.

They have many surgical clinics in the states too. They aren't all done in a hospital.

Absolutely, and I think you need to do your homework wherever you go.

Thats right.  40% of PS in the U.S. is probaly done as an outpatient...mainly lipo, BAs, nose jobs, etc.

But LBL and TT are hands down the two largest surgeries, I am sure a fewer number of those are done  in a clinic setting.

Remember, the credentials of clinic facilities should be checked.

"Doing your homework" = checking credentials of your surgery facility.

That's very true Leah. I'm having my work done at a clinic. It has all of the equipment that would be required if an emergency arose - ie) a crash cart & an anesthesiologist to maintain an air way.

I am fortunate - my DH will be going with me & staying for the full 2 weeks.

PS: I just read an article that said the model *****cenlty died, died from a pulmonary embolism (blood clot to the lung)
