It looks like it was a pulmonary embolism.

I'll be interested to know what caused her death too since I'm going in for the same type of surgery tomorrow...(Buttocks)

Hijack- Hey Moosie, just wanted to say good luck with your surgery tomorrow. You'll be fine! You're a surgery pro.

If anyone knows the details - I'd like to know. Perhaps she had underlying medical conditions.

Thanks!

Sounded like just a freak thing.
She got an embolism and it caused her death. Embolisms are a fact of life with surgeries. We all have that risk, some more than others.

She had a gluteoplasty and had butt implants inserted. This article states it was due to a liquid being injected that went to her lungs and brain....

The cause of this terrible event is just speculation at this point.  The story in the huffingtonpost makes no medical sense whatsoever.

Tragedies such as this are almost never from sudden, catastrophic events. There is usually a slow onset of cardiorespiratory failure (and there are many reasons for this after PS.)

This progression of events is usually identifiable and can often be reversed, but that assumes there are personnel and equipment immediately available.

The common thread between this case, Donda West's case, and all the cases that resulted in a 90-day ban on outpatient surgeries in Florida in 2001 is that they were done in clinics.

Much regulation followed after the ban, which went a long way to safeguarding patients.

So if you are having surgery done in an outpatient setting, be sure the facility is accredited !
