Smoking?!?!?!?

How many days before plastics should one quit smoking? I quit, I start, I quit and round and round we go!!! Thanksgiving with a smoking family did not help! 18 days until surgery, pre-op Thursday! I need to be reprimanded!!! HELP!!!!

well my PS told me 6 weeks pre-op and not to even be around it 2 weeks poat-op. i has something to do with the healing process

Look -- level with the surgeon, and if necessary ask for some help. There are good reasons you shouldn't be smoking in advance of surgery, but smoking -- like obesity -- becomes an organic problem. Ask for help!

Thank you! That's what I need! I will tell her and just hope and pray it does not effect my surgery date....dang family of smokers...like candy to a baby. By the time of surgery I will be 16 days smoke free. I have been working out daily for 2 weeks, running, dancing, hooping.....vitamins are doubled and protein way up there! I hope all of this works in my favor!!!

I was told to stop Vitamins 2 weeks prior to surgery because of the Vitamin E. I would ask about that too..

I think you will be fine. I stopped on 9/25 and my surgery was 11/12. So a little over a month. I think as long as you are not now! I would be honest with your surgeon though. It is a great incentive to stop, huh? Good luck and best wishes.
