Has anyone used their Flexible Spending Account to pay for TT?

Hi all,

I am looking to do another round of plastics, this time my tummy. Insurance fully paid for a breast reduction back in June but denied the TT as not medically nessecary, even though my PCP and PS wrote letters that it was medically nessecary.

so my question is, has anyone used the FSA to pay for their plastics?

Thanks in advance for any input.

My particular FSA has an exclusion to Cosmetic Surgery.

I just spoke to my HR department and the spending account admin yesterday about this very same thing.  Both said that cosmetic or plastic surgery is NOT eligible for FSA reimbursement.  Not even teeth whitening, lol!  (When I was first given a "no" ... I asked about each procedure individually...TT, brachio, breast aug and teeth whitening from my dentist.)

I sure wi**** was, though.  : (

The IRS rules for FSA prohibit the funds to be used for cosmetic surgery.

Jody,

Just curious... do you remember what statute they quoted? Since I am working on my masters in taxation, I would love to read it!

No - sorry I don't, but they said it was on the IRS website.

WOW!! I thought it was covered.

I will be submitting the bill for the clinic and the anesthesiologists as these are listed as covered under my plan. Just the surgeon is not covered.

PLUS - all the med's are covered.

My plan says it covers "sanitarium" - I wonder if it will cover the 2 weeks I am in CR!!??

I read further - mine says it covers nursing care - so I'm thinking I'll submit the bill from Chetica - as that is 24/7 nursing care.

Can't hurt!!

well donkey balls, that's not what I was hoping for. I'll do a little more research and see what I can figure out. I'm thinking if I can pay for everything but the PS with my FSA that will be something.

I actually asked my PS office manager and she didn't know either.
