how did you prep for your surgery.  did you get a full wax? did you shave?  did you let them do it for you?  If you get a wax how do you make sure they don't pull your skin off with all the extra we have hanging?

I shaved EVERYTHING! Other here have been waxed, others were told that the staff would take care of shaving so as not to cause any nicks or cuts, which could get infected. You might asked your PS staff to see what they prefer. Actually I didn't ask...I just didn't want THEM to do it! LOL

I shaved myself. But they told me to do that.

You need to ask your surgeon.....they all have their personal preference......mine told me to shave the night before.

As others have indicated, this is based on surgeon's preference.

The surgical nurse at the practice was very clear .... wax EVERYTHING.

Never before.  Never again.  But I did it.

Knowing that ivfmommee had a full wax. I made the assumption that Dr S requested hair removal. Stupid me...with nowhere in my area for a wax, I did an almost full shave (dreading the horrible, itchy "grow back") only to find it wasnt necessary. Dr S said it didnt matter. Do check with your surgeon

Let the itching begin!

I was also thinking about a wax.  I thought the tape wouldn't get stuck on the hair that way, but also wondered about that itch factor when growing back.  Maybe a bikini wax?

Do ask.  Many surgeons don't want you to shave because it leaves little nicks that can allow bacteria to enter the skin.  My surgeon used a electric razor which gave me more of a trim.  Loris

I think what Loris said above is the best practice.  Folliculitis (bumps, ingrowns, nicks, whatever) are the concern here so doing anything  that could cause those issues to be present at the time of surgery could be an issue.

I also like patients to use a chlorhexidine wash the night before, which has an antibacterial action on the skin for 12 hours.

My surgeon told me they would trim the hair so all I did was take some scissors and sort of groomed the area so it would be neat when they went to do the trim.
