Okay....surgery on December 16th....BL/BA, TT revision, Inner thigh lift and mons lipo....YAY!!! So, here is what I know...no fish oil 2 weeks before, vitamin C twice a day until and after surgery! QUESTION: I bought Bromelain and Arnica, but when I start taking them now or 2 weeks before surgery??? AND, had anyone heard not to drink green tea before surgery? I drink it everyday! Thanks, Holli

Good Questions Holli!
I wasn't told the no fish oil or green tea.
I was told no Vitamin E and no NSAIDS.
I bought the Bromelain and Arnica today at Vitamin Cottage.
I think I'll start that the day before surgery.
I am having  my surgery 2 weeks from tomorrow!!!!

Bromelain and Arnica only 2 days before surgery???? I was thinking like 2 weeks...NO? I knew about the Vitamin E. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!

I did a lot of research and checked with several doctors, my surgeon, PCP, cousin (gastrologist) a friend that does gastric diagnostics, my Chiropractor and two pharmacists and they all advised me the same thing.  Don't take it because it isn't monitored by the FDA so you do not know how much you are actually getting per dose.

toxic levels worried me so I went with making sure my Vitamin A was way up (which it isn't so I am taking aquasol A shots) and extra vitamin C.   My surgery, panniculectomy, is Thursday Nov. 19th.

I hope things go well for you, I am a bit anxious but I feel like Christmas is coming early.

The arnica is to start 2 days prior to surgery.  The bromelain is started after surgery because when taken before it can act as a blood thinner

My PS gave me a shhet saying Arnica starting 2 days BEFORE & start Brolelain on the day of surgery. I think it really helped.

The boxes with the Bromelain and Arnica should tell you when to start......
Mine says to start the Bromelain 2 maybe it is 3 days BEFORE surgery and the Arnica you start AFTER surgery.
You MUST tell your surgeon you are taking Bromelain if they don't know already.  Bromelain can thin the blood!
I drink green tea all day everyday including the night before surgery...never been told not to.

No aspirin or any other pain killer (except Tylenol)
No fish oil
No flaxseed oil
No flaxseeds
No ginkgo
No St. John's Wart
No "E"

That's only a few....there are long list of stuff to stop taking on-line.  Stop taking them 2 weeks prior and don't take them for 1 week post-op.

Best wishes!

What does your surgeon say about all this?  He gets paid to answer these questions - ask it.  In my experience, I've found each one is different.  Best to go with the opinion of the person you chose to do the surgery.
Best of luck on the 16th.

I was told to start taking mine for three days prior to surgery and for five days after surgery.  It really works.
