I will be having a lower face lift (yep, the ole gobble neck taken care of!) this Weds.  Im wondering what kind of diet most are on the first few days after the surgery.  Will it be hard to chew solids and should I plan to stick with liquids or soft foods?  Any advice will be appreciated.  Send good thoughts my way for Weds!

I had mine the day before Christmas last year-- and ate everything I usually would on a holiday-- ham, potatoes, pie-- from the minute I got home. It was no big deal. And the next day, I went to the mall-- which was scarier for others than for me, I am sure! I did 8 hours of post holiday shopping while looking like this:

My neck's not very visible here, but here's how the healing started:

This one shows the lower face work a little better. Hope this helps!

Oh Jupiter: YOU are the one that I stole the phrase:  "Oh, sweet and sour  baby Jesus"  from, with a slight variation - as you can see, of course.  I love it and thanks to Colbert, too.

What a wonderful transformation you've had.  Would appreciate if you can make me a "friend" so I could see all of your pics.  Thanks.  You've got guts to go out shopping the next day, a lot more than I've got.

And good luck to YOU, Kim!

Jupiter:

Thanks for posting.  I was considering having some face work done and wondered what I would look like during recovery.

I had mine in July and I did liquids for the first few days.  The bandages kept my mouth firmly shut the first day.  After that, the doctor told me to try to limit chewing and talking for a few days.  He said to eat more solid food as I felt able to.  I did lose 3 lbs.  I had barely NO pain, just some discomfort from the bandages. I now have some looseness that I will have to address with some touchup surgery later on.

I had mine in Oct 2008 and a revision three weeks ago and I had no diet restrictions.  Came home from the hospital and ate normal food.
