Panni/Tummy Tuck Question
In 2 1/2 weeks I am having a Panniculectomy/Mini Tummy Tuck (Skin removal above and below the belly button with the belly button being remade. No muscle tightening.)
What can any of you that have gone before me tell me about post op pain and recovery. My PS told me that I will have a drain in place and I know that is going to be uncomfortable and irritating
.
Thanks :)
Martha

From reading the posts, it looks like your pain level wont be too bad - that's great! I hope it is a walk in the park for you!

My best guess is that it won't be too painful. You will probably just be tender / sore for a while, because when it is only the skin that is chopped off, heh heh, the pain is minimal. When I have had skin cut, it really isn't that bad. I had a tummy tuck in 2003 with muscle tightening, and the pain when I first tried to get out of bed was excrutiating ... but it was because the muscles had been cut. But, let me tell you, pain or no pain, it was completely 100% worth it. As I lay on the edge of the bed trying to get up that first time, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I would not have wished that big ol' hanging belly back for *anything*!!! Go for it, and don't look back! You will be healed and belly-free before you know it :-) Best wishes! --Dorothy

Hi Natalie -- Yes, that tummy tuck was one of the best things I ever did for myself. Are you having muscle work done? Some people don't even find that too painful, but trying to get out of bed the first time was awful ... but each time I did it it got easier, and before long it was nothing. The above poster is correct -- definitely stay on track with pain meds even if you don't feel much pain. Letting it get out of hand is dumb! Best wishes on your surgery. It will be over before you know it!
