Loans for Plastic Surgery

Hi Lisa ~

That's is what we ended up doing. The PS I saw in CA recommned the loan service above - but the 2 procedures in Costa Rica are so much less that we'll put the whole thing on a credit card - then pay it off with the 401-K loan.

Thanks!
Linda

I checked that out already - since I already have a loan out on it they won't let me take a 2nd one - and there's enough money in there to do it, but oh well....

So when you use your 401k, you get the interest back in your 401k account? I didn't realize that! My interest would only be 4.25% compared to the CC rate I am going to be using.

Yes, you are paying yourself interest. The downfall is that usually, the amount you borrow is not available as investment, so any potential gains you would have earned on the amount you borrow are given up.

Considering the state of the stock market, I think a loan form a 401k is still better than the interest rates you would pay on a credit card, unless you have the ability to pay off the card quickly.

Just my opinion .

Hi Jody - I used Care Credit for part of my surgery (insurance did not cover it).  I recommend using them - and they have zero interest loans if you can pay it off in 18 months.
