Paying for TT
I am 31 years old and as of this month 3 out I no longer take insulin or hbp meds . I really want to have a tt with lipo of the back and sides. I dream about this 24-7. But have come to the conclusion that this may never happen. This has put me in a depressed state, since the plan was to have gastric bypass, then a tt. Im to the point where I am willing to let students practice on me just so I can have this surgery done. I really need advise, is there a school in North Carolina that will do this procedure for free. I went thru Care credit and was denied. Please any info/advise is welcomed Thank you so much!
There are some wonderful schools that give patients reduced fees because they are helping train students. Some will chime in about them here soon, I'm sure.
But get over this thing about "I am willing to let students practice on me just so I can have this surgery done." Your body is your body -- the only one you have. Take care about your surgery -- even if it's nearly free.

I am using a Resident Program in Chicago. I don't look at it like you, "Students practicing on me." The program I am using is not free, it is a lower cost, but the Residents have all been practicing 4, 5, or 6 years...depending on when they are done with their clinicals. I would really look into the program. Post questions on the main board about resident programs. There are many people on this board that have used these programs and were very happy with their results. Good Luck!
Plastic Surgery students/residents that are in their final semester of graduating and going into private practice are not "practicing". These doctors are already general surgeons and are just a couple of months away of graduating into their own private practice. My experience has been that they are some of the best doctors and have wonderful bedside manners. They are young doctors wanting to do their best and genuinely care for their patients. I met with at least 3 or 4 (different semesters) during my research phase and was impressed with every single one of them. I can say that I don't think my results could have been any better than what I got and I am very happy with my results. That said, I think you should look into medical schools in your state or the nearest biggest city and tell them that you'd like a consultation with a plastic surgery resident. These programs are NOT free. The anesthesia, hospital and OR fees are standard (which is not cheap). The reduce costs comes from the surgeon's fee which is fraction of the cost of private practice doctors. There is no profit to be made and the fee goes back to the school. You are still looking at a few thousand dollars.
Good luck!
