Another thought ..... Is your procedure going to be done in a hospital where a Dr is available or in the PS surgical suite?

That is a great idea!  I am going to call the Dr this morning.  He is awesome about his approach to pain management and even pays for an overnight in the hospital the first night.

Thanks Martha! :)

Hi Martha
I wouldn't have a CRNA do my anethesia unless there was a regular anesthesiologist there, it is probbaly being done in a surgi center cause hospitals have to have anesthesia  Drs. there  long with the CRNA
good luck

Not to scare you.. but a cruel joke w/my medical friends, is the anesthetist will kill you before a doctor  will...so I would want an Anesthetist doctor.

I had a horrible experience w/anesthesia...I swallowed the wrong way as I was waking up and the fluid went in my lungs.  I ended up in ICU for a week w/ pneumonia.  (My med friends swear that someone was not paying close attention to me )

Now the good thing is...you will have the opportunity to interview the anesthetist before the surgery..I have had several surgeries after the incidence and I hate that I only get to talk to the Anesthetist Dr 15 minutes before the procedure.

I had the Fleur De Lis tummy tuck and love the results.  If I had not had it I'd have a "muffin top".  The incision will fade so I went for the tighter tummy.

So far as the CRNA....I was surprised to learn that even in the hospitals an Anesthesiologist starts the process (puts you under) but then it is turned over to CRNA to monitor you during the operation....the Anesthesiologist comes back when when it's time to bring you out of it.
I was originally VERY against having the CRNA involved but once I spoke to the Anesthesiologist and he explained the process to me I felt a bit better.    Discuss it with your surgeon.

Best wishes...

I just had the fluer de lis last wed. I saw my belly for the first time yesterday at my post-op appt and I was in awe. I had a lot of extra skin above my belly button and they also had a lot of stretch marks. So it was in my best interest to have the extended abdominoplasty with fluer de lis. I am so happy already. My drains should be coming out Friday and then I will post some pics on here.

Not sure as far as the anethesialogist. Good luck with your process. Go with your gut. I immediately fell in love with my surgeon and his staff and knew that's who i wanted. so far I'm happy. Take care.

Oh my gosh!  That is awesome!  Did the dr say how long you would be out of commision for?  How are you feeling?
