How many Dr's did you consult with before you chose one

Good morning folks,

I'm just starting to interview/consult with surgeons regarding PS.  I have one app't this Wednesday and am scheduling another app't with another Dr. this week.  I was wondering how many different surgeons did you see before you chose one and what was the deciding factor on the one you chose.

Thanks,

Alana

I saw 4, but I knew I liked the 2nd one after I saw him.  I saw the others anyway, in case we clicked.  Good Luck!!

I met with three different PS's before making my decision.  My deciding factor was skill, experience, results, and of course speaking with several former patients.  It also helped that my VSG surgeon highly recommended him, as well.

Best of luck in your search!

I met with 5 different surgeons....3 of them clearly had no idea what to do with all my excess skin after losing over 200 lbs. I made my choice based on conversations with the surgeon himself and patients of his.

It's a big decision, take your time and find the surgeon that's right for you and your situation.

I met with five and I stopped with my current surgeon.  I knew immediately that he was the one and so I looked no further.  I learned a lot thoughout this process of meeting with different surgeons.   I also received price quotes from each.  The surgeon I selected was neither the most expensive nor the cheapest - about in the middle of the pack.  I just had my fourth and final round of plastics with him two weeks ago today.  He has exceeded my expectations each and every time.  It's really  important to take your time during your search and find the right one.

I only had one. I knew she was the one for me because I had seen 6 people whom she did PS on and once I actually met with her I knew right away she was the one. She knew exactly what I wanted and she told me what she could do. I did so a background check on her to make sure she was board certified, knowledgable, and I talked with other patients in her office to see how her follow ups were after surgery. If she was a caring doc, etc.

I consulted with 4 plastic surgeons, all of whom were recommended by various people I knew, including one recommended by my WLS doctor.  I was very, very glad that I got quotes from all the doctors because the one I chose was very much more expensive than the other three.  However, since I was able to show her comparable quotes from the other sugeons, she worked with me on the final cost, coming in much closer to the other quotes.

My final choice was based on the immediate connection I felt with her the moment I met her.  She was also highly recommended by the staff at the hospital where I do volunteer work.  (All the docs I consulted with were already researched, board certified, proven results, etc.)

Good luck with your journey.  It's very exciting to embark on this leg of our journey!!!!

I consulted with 5 surgeons (including one in Mexico) plus 3 residents.  I had a couple of surgeons I would have loved to use but just couldn't afford them which is why ended up going the Resident route.  It worked out great because one of the drs I wanted to use ended up working on me with the residency program I used so it all worked out in the end.
