Battling an infection

Has anyone had to deal with an infection post op?
I had an LBL on 10/6, so now I am 5 weeks out tomorrow.
I have been battling an infection since the middle of my third week.  The Dr. opened up my belly button and the incision right below my belly button.  I have since had to pack it to draw out the infection and of course I'm on antibiotics.

If you have gone through this, how long before the infection went away and did it affect your final outcome?

Thanks.

I had to do that with my thigh following a revision to my thigh lift. I got a MRSA infection and huge abscess in my right leg above my knee.  It was a pain to have to deal with the packing and waiting for it to close, but after about 4 weeks, the wound closed.  I'm having some injections in the scar now to make it look better.  It was a hard time, but I made it through, and I'm still glad I had my thigh lift!

I was on IV anitibiotics for 6 days in the hospital, and then 4 weeks at home, while I was packing.

Thanks Jennie.  I'm on round 2 of antibiotics now.  I was on Duracef first, then when they got the cultures back, they put me on Leviquin.  I'm hoping this takes care of it.  It's not fun packing these wounds.

Thanks, Jodi.  The surgeon said it is clearly up nicely.  I'm hoping that the wound closes soon.  This packing the wound gets tired real quick.
