Question about multiple PS consults

Hi all,

I am beginning my search for a cosmetic surgeon and am looking to have both a hernia repair and either lbl or ftt done at the same time.

When going on multiple consults, does each office run it by insurance for cost purposes and has this caused any problems with the insurance company?

Or should I contact my insurance company and let them know I will be going on multiple consults for the same procedures?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paula

I didn't try to get insurance involved until I decided on the surgeon I wanted to use.  I asked them if they took the insurance I had before I went on the consult but I didn't have them put in paperwor****il I decided who wanted to use.
FYI - I have only been able to get insurance to pay for my breast reduction last year....everything else I've had to pay for out of pocket.

Best wishes!!

This is a great question, as I'm doing exactly the same thing now.  I was told by the 1st office I went to that my insuranced WOULD pay for the panni but nothing else, which I fully expected. They were going to start the insurance process.  I'm thinking if I'm approved there, I can just transfer the approval to another office if I decide to go elsewhere.   I'll be looking forward to seeing what replies you get.
