Abdominalplasty recovery

I did break down and ask my Dad and my brother to be here during the surgery, as my friend who is driving me to the hospital was very insistant that I have some family member here.  I don't know yet if they will stay after the surgery.  Although my Dad is an excellant driver, I worry about him driving from his smaller town to the "big" city of Detroit.  He did grow up here.
I'm waiting to here the time for the surgery before I contact them again.  I will call in the morning.  My girlfriend I know absolutely panics at the thought of any surgery.  I wouldn't like to tell you here Xanix/cataract surgery story.

And about the shower, I forgot what it was like the first one I took at home after the RNY surgery.  I did  have a friend who came and helped me that day.  But she has since moved away.  My post op instructions are that I won't be able to take a shower until after the first post op visit that will be 8 days from the surgery.  Sponge bathing is allowed.  I can't take the compression garmets off, until they do and they will hopefully remove the drains.

I'm contacting the hospital friends and family in the morning to make sure that someone will be there to guide my father and brother, and me to the right places.  I work for the hospital system but not in the hospital where I'm having surgery.

Last year (gad, already it's been a year!), I had LBL and BL/BA. Dr made arrangements for medical transport from his office operating suite to the hospital where I stayed 2 nights.  I knew I'd be out of it at least that long - I don't recover from anesthesia very well. Not that I had much help in the hspotial after the first night, but it was good to be there instead of at home wherre I would have had to get my own food and drink. I had someone drive me to the dr's office and pick me up at the hospital.  After that, I had no assistance and was fine. I was off work for 2 weeks and worked half-time another week.
