My passport doesn't expire for 7 years. But it's a picture that doesn't look like me. I have my old unexpired license that shows the same face and my new one and can take my birth certificate. Will this be a problem or is there a way to get a new picture on an unexpired passport?

I did call the # on travel.state.gov. She said if it was a dramatic loss and I don't look the same I should send it in. My it's basically renewing early. You use form DS-82 and pay $75 and the turn around time is just as if you were getting a new one. 4-6 weeks. So to expedite it costs $60 extra.

Sigh.

None of my pictures match my new face.  TSA always takes a second look.  I've lost over 200lbs since my passport photo was taken - luckily it expired this year.  So I just got a new one.  I looked like a different person and my DL does look like me either.  I was told you can't replace the picture on on a passport that hasn't expired.  You could see if you can just get a totally new passport, but I have a feeling they won't allow that either.  I'm not sure.  You could call the passport bureau and ask.

There is no discount for renewing early.  You can risk using the old one and if the change isn't dramatic then no problem.  If you don't look anything like your photo, then you will be pulled to secondary and held up.

I had to renew early twice.  Once after weight loss and once again after face lift.
