Woo Hoo - 1 Week TT Check-Up & No Drains!!!

Had my 1-week checkup and got both drains out (had extended abdominoplasty last Wednesday afternoon)!!  Yeah I feel so FREE!  I did end up getting a new little incision - had one spot where skin was pulling so tight it made the skin stand out from my incision to about three inches down my leg.  So doc opened up about a 1-inch spot in my incision and a little spot below it and clipped it.  Whew, tight spot gone.  He was very happy with how my incision looks, that I can stand straight and am off the pain pills.  So, I go back in two weeks to check me over again and if all goes well, I'll be done.

Of course I forgot to ask how much skin they took off, but I weigh exactly the same today as I did the morning of surgery and have the pot belly pregnant thing going on, so hoping that means that when the swelling goes down, I'll have lost a little weight, too.  He said that the swelling will go down within 1-3 months.  Dang, I have a really hot outfit I was going to wear for hubby's office Christmas party and there's no way I can get this gut into it unless the swelling goes down A LOT.

Oh well, I feel really good, except for this new incision pain which shouldn't last too long, and am happy with the results so far.  Updated my pics, too.  Next pics will be when there's some difference (as in no pot belly).

I am so happy for you!  Isn't is great to be drain free?  You just might be able to get in to that hot outfit sooner than you think!

Congratulations, and you look great!

Just keep wearing your binder or compression garment it helps with the swelling

Thanks everyone.  I sure feel more mobile.  I've been re-reading through others' posts and am a little bummed that I'm not one of the lucky ones who have their TT and wake up and look down to see their nice flat tummy and when I lay down I see a big puffy tummy.  I know we're all different, but I still wish I was one of the flat ones.

I've got on compression bottoms and a top and a binder over that.  Asked hubby to pick up some lemons from the store tonight to squeeze into my water, am taking the bromelain, took arnica montana until I ran out.  Was going to use ice packs, then saw Dr. Lo's post about not recommending the use of ice packs because the newly stretched tummy skin's so fragile and numb and the ice cold could cause damage, and I'm eating low-sodium foods, so I think I've got all the swelling help things going.

I'm so happy for you that you got those drains out.  I hope I'm that lucky.  You look terrific!  Thanks for keeping us posted about your progress.  I will be having mine in 2 weeks and am getting a little nervous.

Having the drains out is so freeing.  I felt like I had a tail.  Crazy right?  I was glad to get them out yesterday too.  How is your compression garment?  Mine is so tight.  LOL

A tail - LOL.  OMG - how can I best describe my compresion garments??  I feel like a giant stuffed sausage with little arms and legs dangling out of it!  Or the big white Michelan tire man.

My doc told me to get girdle-like garments - nothing pricey or special order - the regular tight girdle garments work just fine.  He said to get them before my surgery and make sure they fit very snugly.  So, I went to Target, got their Assets brand girdle bottoms and a tank top-like girdle top.  The small's felt snug but comfy, the medium's felt a little slacker, so I got the small sizes.

Whoa - my hubby and I about hurt myself laughing because he had to help me yank these things on the first time and I swear we could hear a big "sproing" sound like a rubberband being pulled tightly and shot across the room when I peeled them back off for my shower.  Now I can get them on myself, but dang, it hurts to put them on because I laugh so hard at myself because all I can picture is someone shoving more and more meat into a small sausage wrapper.
