implant question

i have done a lot of reseach on saline vs silicone, but have a question for those experts here on this board.  if the implants are placed under the muscle, can you tell a difference regarding how 'natural' they feel?  i know that if they are placed over the muscle, the silicone feel more like breast tissue vs the saline.  ugggg im having a hard time deciding which ones to have placed (in january).  they each have their own advantage/disadvantage.  i know i would definately go for the silicone if i was having over the muscle placement, but just not sure since they will go under the muscle.  anyone on her have experience with both types of implants?

can anyone give me an suggestions?

thanks so much

Just had mine done. My surgeon will only use silicone unless it's a rare occasion. He also goes under the muscle. I've been told it's better to go under the muscle for mamograms in the future. They can get a better read when the implant is under the muscle. But at this point can't tell you how real they feel since they are so new. But at this point I'm completely happy w/ my results.

Hi,

I have silicone implants under the muscle.  I just had a mammo a couple of weeks ago.  Did not feel any different then before.  The only noticeable item I have with the implants is when I am working out the muscles (push ups, plank position, etc) where the implants are.  It can feel very strange.  At first I didn't want to do it, but as time has gone on I have gotten used to the strange feeling.

I think mine feel very natural and my husband is not complaining one bit!

I am having BL/BA in December.  Dr. S. told me that it was better to put the implant over the muscle because when my breasts start to sag again, the implant will stay put but the breast will sag and it will look funny.  *shrugs*.  I guess evenutally we will all sag again to some degree.  He said it was better that the breast and the implant move together.  Maybe it is because I am older, who knows.

There are three placement option.  You can get overs, unders, or partials.  My PS said most people who have unders actually have partials (who knows..but I trust him).  Anyway, I have 450cc silicone partially under.  At first they did not feel like real breasts.  They had to soften, but now they are very soft and even better than the pre-op saggy boobs.  Good luck!

I am going to have mine done tomorrow AAAHHHH I am so nervous.
I am having the " Gummy Bear Implants"  Silicone the latest and greatest although there are only certain surgeons that can do them I believe as they are still part of a 10 year FDA study- They have been using for a long time outside the US and for 7 years now in the US my surgeon put them in his wife and a lot of his staff have them - It is a more concentrated silicone like a gel so if they rupture the silicone can't leak and spread- Anyway I have signed on to be a guinea pig- also I read the saline have a 1% deflation rate per year. My surgeon will do saline if I request but he prefers the silicone not sure I f I have now made it worse also I am going under the muscle. I originally went in thinking I was going saline but as you can see I have changed my mind I have friends with both and both are very happy so I guess it is just a personal preference .
Best wishes to you.

Cheers

I had saline implants done over 7 years ago..Under the muscle. They look 100% natural; have survived a baby, 3 years of breast feeding and 60+ lbs of weight gain and STILL look and feel natural.
