Stopping Vitamins before surgery...
I went to see my surgeon for my upcoming TT on November 18th and he told me to stop taking my vitamins a week to 10 days before the surgery ! I have a real concern about this.. I feel weak and lethargic sometimes when I miss my vitamins. I know vitamin E must be out of your systems since it can cause excessive bleeding.. but I was just wondering if anyone else has gone a week to 10 days without vitamins and lived to tell about it !![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/eek.gif)
I'm probably overreacting.. but that's what I do best..
Comments anyone?

I didn't stop taking my vitamins before either surgery. My Dr. didn't tell me to stop anything other than my Birth Control since that can cause blood clots and that was for my first surgery in July. The surgical center told me to stop taking my vitamins before my last surgery a week ago but I didn't do it since I had no problems just a few months before and it didn't come from my Dr.

Hi, my surgery is the 9th and Dr.S emailed me yesterday and told me to stop the vitamin due to the E. He also said to start taking a protein shake everyday to assist with healing. I bought Muscle Milk. I heard it tastes good.
I am just going to concentrate on eating lots of veggies and a bit of fruit every day to make up for what I am NOT getting with the vit tablet. Also, Muscle Milk has lots of vitamins in it. I would just do it if the doctor days to...dont sweat....you will be able to re-store your vitamin stores after the surgery. You DONT want any additional risk of bleeding, so let the E go. You will be fine.
Are you going to Monterrey, too??

Actually, yes... I inquired about my need for Ibuprphen. I have arthritis in my thumbs/wrists and knees and am about worthless without my ibu. He said to just eliminate the vit tab and take the Ibu. (my hero)
I just cant imagine trying to do anything without it. I cant even zip my pants sometimes and the ibu saves the day.
That was all he had to say!!

Wow! I never knew about the Vit tab until someone said something about it here. I'm glad I come here often! I'm learning so much! Thanks!!!
I take Aleve almost daily for my backaches. I have the backaches due to my huge panni. Hopefully after ps I won't have to take a thing!

12/09 and 6/11, 9 skin removal procedures with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico
Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.
My guess is once that ol' panni is gone, the backaches will go too. Although, just losing the balance of your weight will help.
I had knee surgery 7 years ago and once I stopped the post-op pain meds, I noticed that, although my knee felt better, suddenly my wrists and thumbs hurt like hell. Well it seems I had bone on bone arthritis in them too, but the Ibu. I had been taking all those years masked it.
I hope YOU dont find that to be the case when the panni is gone. Who was it...Bette Davis who said "Aging aint for sissies"? She was right!!

Hi Soapie
I wish I was going to Mexico ..but Im not this time around my insurance covers the panni removal but my surgeon does the extended tt so out of pocket was 3500.. but I am definitely going to consider him for facial work and or possibly breast lift w/ augmentation down the road I sure do enjoy hearing everyone stories it just reinforces my decision..
I just love OH![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/dance.gif)

OH ROCKS!! Had I not found this place, I would still be a fat woman, miserable and not getting much enjoyment out of life. This place saved me.
Dr. S is really an artist! I had researched many other surgeons on this site and by googling "plastic surgeons in ----------" then put in Houston, Omaha, Atlanta...just to see the before/after shots on their websites. None of them were as impressive as Dr. S's. I saw a lot of crooked, uneven and even puckery seams. I did not want that...even if nobody else would see it but me.
I saw the work Dr S did and fell in love! I cant wait to git'r done.
Never saw his face work, but if he is that good with "gross" seams, he must be good at "fine" ones.
Good luck with your journey. It is so nice to see the end of the journey getting closer!! All that remains is the "happily ever after"!

I've had four rounds of plastics and I've taken vitamins thoughout them all - even the day of surgery. They're "normal" vitimans - no exteme stuff, though. I'd inquire further as to the reason.
