What is a dogear exactly?

My surgeon mentioned he could fix any dogears.  Has anyone had one fixed?  What is recovery like from that procedure?

a "dogear" is basically where your scar begins and it can be puffed up a little, if you can imagin cutting out a wedge from a piece of paper and then bringing the two cut sides together, the middle of the paper will puff up, and your skin does the same thing, and they call it a "dogear"

A dog-ear is kind of a V shaped raised piece of skin at the end of the incision.  You how you can turn down the corner of a page in a book.....you "dog-ear" the page.  I'm told they are easily fixed.  You see them often around the hips where the Tummy Tuck incision ends on each side.  Also can be at the top of the Anchor Cut of a tummy tuck (I have one there that will be fixed).

Not too uncommon.....surgeons usually fix them as part of a revision procedure.

Hope that helps......

Not all dogears need to be revised.  I had dogears on both hips and on both arms.  I massaged all my incisions well and concentrated on all of the ends and they smoothed out without needing any kind of revision.
