Good news/Bad news

Depends on how you look at it.

I was let go from my job after my biotech company was acquired by a big pharma company.  The bad news is, of course, that I don't have a job.  The good news is:

* I will be paid through the end of January, but they are sending me home on Wednesday.
* I will get my full severence, which means I don't have to work for quite a while if I don't want to.
* I don't have to plan my surgeries by having the LBL first (in order to trigger FMLA, because I would need to be hospitalized for one night) -- and Agha wants to do my face first (Nov. 1st -- yes, on a Sunday), then my LBL on Nov. 30th, and then my upper body (arms/boobs) mid-January.

So, more good news is that when I am job hunting, I will have a new face!  And I don't have to worry about work while I'm out on leave -- I haven't had a vacation or even a WEEKEND without answering my email in over 4 years.

And I already have some leads on jobs, including already being offered partnership in my former law firm.

I'm going to enjoy flying AirFentanyl.

Well, then!  My condolences and congratulations both!

You certainly have your plans cut out for you, for the rest of the year!

Actually, I have plans to be cut out from.

I hope Agha sticks to his promise, to not give me a half-assed job.  I will do my part, and take my ProCare, because I have some skin in this game too.

procare is the food supplement Agha wants you to take?

you'll have less skin in the game when he's done with you!

Yup, it is some strawberry flavored supplement, chock full of protein, vitamins, minerals and other good-for-you crap.

I'm hoping that the latter is the case!

Well, whatever the good guys say.

Two months post-op I can't gag down protein shakes, but I recall Aboolian saying I needed 2400kCal/day NET to heal properly, and it was hard to manage the 120g protein they were suggesting.

You're good with the nutrients and supplements, you're going to do great.

And now it's all just a few weeks away!

How wonderful that you'll be able to now focus on getting through and recovering from your surgeries without having to worry about rushing back to work.  It's amazing how the universe works, isn't it?

I'm also a patient of Dr. Agha's. I had my upper body work (boobs/arms) done with him about six weeks ago and having my LBL with him on Dec. 12.  He does really good work and my recovery from the first surgery has been incredibly easy.

Um... all I can say about the ProCare is good luck!  I found it horrid, but I took it as instructed and I assume it helped in my recovery.

Best of luck to you!

We may run into each other -- I will have my LBL on Nov. 30th, so should still be down there when you get there -- though I have a feeling you won't be in a chatty mood.  Are you going to be there through Xmas?

I have the ProCare -- I plan to try my first slug of it over the weekend.  Ugh -- I'm already dreading it.

How did your boobs/arms turn out?  Did you do the J-Upper Body Lift too?

Diana,

How long are you staying in Newport?  My family is in LA so I'm planning on staying through the holidays and then going back to work after New Year's.  IAre you staying a few days at Camilla's Cottage?  I've decided to stay there 4-5 days instead of two to ease the burden of having to have a family member take care of me during the rougher early days.

No, I didn't have the J-Upper Body Lift... just L-Brachiplasty (my incision extends to the bottom part of my armpit but not to the backside of my arm), as well as a breast lift and augmentation.  Dr. Agha did a phenominal job on my boobs.  I think almost any other doctor would have given me an anchor or lollipop incison for my breast lift and he somehow managed to do it all with a donut incision (meaning no scaring other than around my nipple which has already faded a lot).  More than lifted, he reconstructed one of my breasts, blending both impants and fat transfer techniques.  There is some difference in size between the two, but he's going to fix that by adding more fat during my LBL surgery.  I don't have pics posted on my profile, but would be happy to email some to you if you'd like.

I will be staying at Camilla's for one night after my facelift (since there will be no hospitalization), and at least 3 nights after the LBL.  My husband will then take care of me at the Candlewood Suites hotel.  We will be there for 5 days after the facelif, and at least 15 days after the LBL, according to Agha, possibly longer.

My breast lift with autoaugmentation will be more scarring, but it will be the continuous scar from elbow, through the armpit, down my upper flank (to tighten the back and "harvest" back fat for the autoaugmentation) and around the boobs.  I'm hoping to go from a DD (some of which is skin) to a firm and full C.  I have had big heavy boobs my whole life, and I am hoping for firmer smaller ones that retain their shape for the next 25 years.  I'd like to be able to NOT wear a bra, or at least one with underwires and 4 hooks, and to see if the deep bra strap grooves in my shoulders can heal themselves.
