What did you do about vitamins prior to and just after your PS?  I've read on some doctors website that they want you to stop the vitamins except for the vitamin C.  Apparently vitamin A causes bruising and interfers with clotting, while mega doses of vitamin C help with the healing.

I upped my dosage of B12 to weekly B12 shots (vs monthly) for two weeks before and 6-8 weeks after. I did/ am doing this to help regenerate blood after the surgery...good thing too, as I was still anemic but managed to escape a transfusion (whether this was good or bad can be debated either way)... who knows what it would have been without this.

Vitamin B12
is .... a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood.

I also upped my protein, of course. This time I will be attempting to drink  two 66g protein shakes a day bringing my total daily protein intake to 125+grams per day. (Made with Skim milk so my calcium will be up as well.)  I will also be upping my Iron, at my doctors request, to help build up my blood store after surgery.

Hope this helps.

Check with your surgeon as they all have a little different take on this.  However, I think they all agree on stopping things like vitamin E and K that can effect your clotting.  You will also need to discontinue aspirin as that also effects clotting.

I don't take anything exotic - just Calcium support, Centrum multi vitamin and B complex.  My surgeon said to take all meds as usual.  I think Red is correct about the Vitamin K stuff.
