This is a silly question compared to the serious ones that people need help with.  I am one week out (today ) from my arms lift and know its to soon but............i go back to work next week.
How soon could you use deodorant again after your arm lift surgery and did you have to switch to something perscribed?  I work in the public and concerned that since i am cut under the arm pitt i won't be able to wear deodorant for some time.  Besides showering every day what did you do?

As I recall, I was cleared for deodorant a couple of weeks after my surgery.

Thank you for your responce.  We are starting into our cooler weather so thats a blessing for those working around me  :-)

The most problems i am having now is keeping these stupid bandages on so i am very fortunate.

I was cleared at week 4 (or maybe it was 5).
BUT, I have to tell you....since having my surgery I never sweat in my armpits......I have not "needed" to wear deodorant since.  Weird, huh!

Thank you for your answer.  That is weird that it has changed your sweating but hey its nice to have added perks to this surgery.

I used ideoderant once the incisions were completely closed.  My biggest problem after my arm lift was shaving, I was scared to death that I was going to cut the incision.  I used Nair for the first 3 months to make sure I didn't nick anything.

Oh CRAP i never thought of that problem yet!    LOL

It could be worse like 100 degrees and middle of summer/

Thanks

I still have open sores in my pits.  I'm sure I shouldn't be using deod.  I know I hate it.  But my open sores are just gross.  I won't put anything on them.  I wash w/soap and water.  I would think if you are healed it would be ok.  You might check w/your PS office.

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me." Erma Bombeck

CVS and other pharmacies carry a product that is a crystal deodorant stone. It is an aluminum chlorohydrate FREE stone made from a salt. You wet it and just stroke it under the arm (also good for stinky feet!). It lays down a salt film (that will NOT plug pores or harm your incision) that bacteria find impossible to thrive in. No bacteria means no odor.

I had a small soap and toiletries business and sold my stuff at craft shows. This stone was the only thing I sold that I did not make....but I sold alot of them. It is a good effective deodorant and lasts for EVER. I have been using the same one for 2 years now. Safe, effective and should not pose any problems post operatively.
