Question about belly button

Hi I was wondering if anyone who has had a tummy tuck done, kept their original belly button or was a new one made?

I really hate the extra skin on my stomach, but I am also sentimental about my belly button.

I have my original belly button - complete with my little scar from having my tubes tied laproscopically! :-) It was removed then replaced - my scar goes completely around it...like a donut - that is my circle center!

If you get a mini tummy tuck, they usually don't do anything to your belly button. If you get the full tummy tuck that involves work above the belly button, they do "remove" it, but they usually replace it by pulling the umblillicus through the skin, after its pulled into its new position. Some people have chosen not to have a belly button post op, and in rare cases, the surgeon is unable to make a new belly button. Most, however, end up with one in the same place, without any complications.

I have my original belly button, no ring around mine looks like it did originally. Talk to your PS about it and see what he says. i talked to my PS and he told me what he was going to do and if no complications it would be fine. It was taped up after surgery and I like mine and once it healedmy PS went back and pierced it for me in the office. he doesnt do that for everyone but since he'd seen me for so many things meaning my hernias and tummytuck and breasts he said he would do it for me and it was his gift to me. You will get the xtra skin off. Just be optimistic and positive.

I had a lower body lift complete with a new oval belly button. Same ole' one underneath just a new one on the outside... they they do the LBL depending upon the amount of skin removed, your old one may be cut away on the outside so they make a new one...... my doc is into the latest and greatest which are ovals... If you look, teenagers have ovals.. when you start to age and put on weight, it stretches out and becomes a circle.... I now have a teenagers bellybutton and LOVE IT !!!

I still have mine -- but it is in a different place!  As I understand it the belly button is like a little post and when they do the TT it is cut free and then a hole is cut to bring up back up through the skin.

Mine was done like Red just said and it looks so much better. It's not a deep wide hole anymore...LOL

I believe I still have my original belly button however it is poking through a new hole cut into my tummy skin.  At least that's my understanding of the procedure.
I always had a good looking belly button (not too big or anything)...now it's sort of thin slit which I understand will become more "oval" in shape as I heal.  So far, I'm ok with how it looks.

I have my original Belly Button.   Look on one of the PC websites and view a tummy tuck.  You will be able to see how they repositions and reattactch it during the procedure.  It's pretty cool.
