I must have missed something but thought I'd chime in....
Personally I think the important thing is listening to ones gut. As individuals we each know what is most important to us and what we are looking for from a plastic surgeon.
The bottom line is how does someone feel about the surgeon when they meet him or her and look at photos of their results. The proof is in the pudding.........how does their work look. I also think it's very important to talk to former patients of the surgeon. Not just emailing people to ask how they feel but talk to them on the phone. Our gut is a great barometer. I met with many surgeons (some on the phone, some in person) but I knew when I met the surgeon who is doing my work that he was the right one for me. He wasn't the cheapest, nor was he most expensive. He isn't next door but I don't have travel too far....
For me he was just right....I knew it in my gut!
I think if you do your due diligence, research the surgeon, look at photos, talk to other patients who had the same procedure(s), a good decision can be made. Personally I think if someone is going to travel out of their home area (regardless if it's the Mexico or a couple of states away, or to the other side of the country), it is important to make arrangements for local aftercare just in case. It's better to be prepared and have someone local ready to care for you than to find yourself with a problem and nowhere to go except the emergency room.
Just my 2 cents....
