the whole MEXICO bashing thing

Thank you Finallyme for finallysaying what so many of us have been thinking.

So many have opinions of Mexico being dirty, violent and sub-par. Well, go to certain parts of any country and you will find the same.

Dr. S gets my vote too.

LOL    Redhaired I'm with you. The only post I remember seeing lately was asking for info into what had anyone who had complcations after surgery in another country done and if they had any problems getting a Dr to complete their follow up care or help with complications. I must have missed the Bashing posting. Sounds like the posting may have went too far. Hope it gets better. We are ALL in this together & need to respect the choices we each make and feel comfortable sharing. I myself have been very surprised to hear about the great care given in other countries and am glad others have shared these experiences. Thank you to all of you for sharing & I hope to get more advise and encouragement through my PS journey!!!

Ladies it was actually a Private message that got my hair standing on end - that combined with the other posts about recovering etc... were just icing on my cupcake of grouchiness today.

Sorry for the rant - I just honestly wonder sometimes if people think in this day and age that we would ( in GREAT numbers) go south of the border to "chop shops" and come home and BRAG about it being great if in fact it was an awful situation...

The Private message insinuated that I had not even HAD surgery...that I was lying about how great everything was and my results looked FAKED...Ummmm...NOPE...I have the scars to show proudly what a great job Dr. Sauceda did.

It  all just kind of got me all wound up and BOOM...my post.

I am passionate about what a great job Dr. Sauceda did with me and was VERY offended by the PM I received...in future I will IGNORE stupid people. However I really do hope that people know that ALOT of time, effort , research and Passion goes into making a decision like plastic surgery. ( This goes for staying in your home town or heading overseas!) VOLUNTARILY traveling 7000 miles to have it done with the BEST surgeon you can find is an achievement in my opinion, not a shameful secret to hide.
Thanks to all who chimed in, sorry if I offended anyone.

Girl

I am so sorry that you had to put up with that !!!   The sad part is I know the main reason you come back on here is to "pay it forward" and try to help the ones like myself that is following in your foot steps !!

Just wanted to let you know I really appreciate everything you have done and told me about what to be ready for .

Also I know you are not type of person to cause problems -- BUT I would really love to KNOW who sent the PM to you !!   If you could either post it or PM me  -- I promise to have a "little" chat with them for the BOTH of us !!

Talk soon
Tony

PS  -- I know you said get the calling card at the XOXO but was there a certain one to ask for ?  Or all of them about the same ?

I don't know for sure or if it still stands but, I think US insurance carriers will not cover or will drop a person that has a procedure overseas.  Maybe they need to approve it or something.

You are incorrect.  My PCM already knows and does NOT care where I am going.  It is an elective surgery no matter if it is in the States or Mexico, and my insurance DOES cover me if I have complications. If for that matter, weight loss surgery is an elective surgery, so our insurance carriers would have dropped us by now if your statement was true.

Ivfmommee,

Remember, insurance carriers are different and have different rules.  You may have a great carrier and it sounds like you do, but others may not be so lucky.

I was just referring to your post saying that US carriers will treat you or drop you.  My point was that mine is a US insurance company, and it does not drop you and it will treat you.  It is a relief to know that mine does, and I know I am lucky to have great insurance through the military!

While I chose to stay in the States for my PS, I think it is more about the doctor.  If you find someone you trust and love then go for it.  When I met my PS, I just knew he was the one I HAD to go to.  Howver I would say don't go into anything blindly and make sure you know how aftercare will be handled.   Good luck to all!
