the whole MEXICO bashing thing

I haven't been around much these days (started a new job) but trying to catch up on the boards and a few PM's...One thing I wanted to say out right and the other Dr. Sauceda fans can chime in with me I am sure.
Choosing Dr. Sauceda and going to MEXICO is NOT choosing to have SUB QUALITY care!
I researched for 2 years procedures and doctors. I met with plastic surgeons here in Canada (who would be MY definition of sub quality care) I email consulted with 3 surgeons in Mexico, 1 in the USA and 1 in Costa Rica. I CHOSE to go to MEXICO because of the SURGEON...I didn't choose to go to Mexico because of PRICE.

Now was I THRILLED to be saving a TONNE of cash by going to Mexico? YES...
However, would I have spent MORE to have the SAME SURGEON...YES!

Dr. Sauceda (in my opinion) did an AMAZING job on my TT and BA. I have amazing results, minimal scarring.  I got a physician who was personable, loving and supportive before, during and AFTER my surgery. I got a surgeon who KNEW what he was doing, who took his time to skillfully plan my surgery. I got MORE then the results I had hoped for. I also got the benefit of recovering under the DIRECT DAILY supervision of my surgeon. I would not have had that luxury US or Canada. I was able to DAILY ask questions about issues, I was given clear and precise information on my recovery. I was informed DAILY of my progress and was FULLY supported and taken care of for 12 days post op.
Once I arrived home ( with proper care instructions) I saw my family doctor. I had my remaining stitches removed by this doctor ( who I might add was ABSOLUTELY impressed with my results - he was STUNNED)

I don't know what I would have done if I had MAJOR complications because I had NONE...and honestly I KNEW going in I had chosen the right man for the job, and never doubted my outcome.

I don't know why people use their own biased PERCEPTION of MEXICO and focus on "what if"?!

What if I went to a highly prominent doctor in the US and had a heart attack because he put me under prolonged and unnecessary general anesthetic (instead of Dr. S using twilight sedation). What if I developed a major infection because I was in a huge hospital full of SICK people, instead of being operated on in a quiet, clean, private surgical clinic?

It goes both ways. WHAT IFS are only that...WHAT IF?

I have nothing but positives to saw about Dr. Sauceda, the surgery, the recovery, the clinic, the hotel, the experience, the outcome. For those who have NO IDEA what MEXICO is like for receiving medical care all I can say is that your "ideas" are far fetched and not based on facts.

I live in the land of "free medical care" I CHOSE to pay for the BEST surgeon I could find, I CHOSE to go to MEXICO because it was the BEST quality, BEST surgeon and BEST care I found during my research.

I DO think GREAT doctors can be found everywhere...I also think AWFUL doctors can be found everywhere.

Let Dr. Saucedas results and reputation speak for HIM...look at the pictures, listen to the stories.
Good luck to everyone scheduled with Dr. S...I know you Will all be back on here saying exactly the same things.

He just IS that good.
Sorry for my rant,
GOOD LUCK on your journeys no matter where they take you!

I TOTALLY agree!  I had my VSG surgery in Mexico and received the best medical care that I have ever received from any of my US surgeries!  My entire experience in Mexico was above anything I have ever experienced in the US.  Really.

I met with Dr. Sauceda this past weekend in Dallas.  He is extremely nice and knowledgeable.  I would trust him completely with doing any of my plastic surgery.  We as a group, had dinner together on Saturday evening and he sat across from me.  I was able to ask many other questions that I had thought of since our previous meeting earlier that morning.  He answered all of them.  It was so nice to be sitting across from Dr. Sauceda and beside Dr. Alvarez eating dinner!!  I felt "honored"!  Two of the best surgeons out there, in my opinion.

I am so glad you found a good doctor for yourself in Mexico and I agree we can find good and bad doctors everywhere.  My personal GP is an idiot but you know how hard it is to switch doctors with our shortage HOWEVER I found a WONDERFUL plastic surgeon in the Toronto area.  He was informative with lots of experience and came highly recommend by someone i knew plus is rated by fellow doctors and nurses that have used his services as one of the best and that is the reason i went to him.

He has done my tummy tuck and breast lift and also my arms.  i am waiting a while before i do my legs and butt .................but when i am ready i will not  even look at another doctor for fee difference or anything because i am EXTREAMLY satisfied with his work.

Everyone chooses who they go to because of a trust relationship with the doctor of their choice or they wouldn't be going to him and putting their life in his or her hands.  Please .........there ARE GREAT CANADIAN DOCTORS ALSO.

Thank you for this post. I am scheduled with Dr. Sauceda on Oct 10, and I am not only excited but sure I have the right surgeon for me....After consultations with five different surgeons...in and out of the U.S.

I went to Brazil for my DS, the care I recieved was far superior to anything I had ever experienced here....I am certain I will find the same care with Dr. Sauceda.
