burn unit, myth or fact ???

I was told that some childrens hospital burn units do skin removal for their burn unit, whats the scoop, is this for real or just a myth. Also who would I call to inquire about this

There was a thread a couple of days ago about donating skin.  But, they do not cover the cost of the skin removal.

Actually, our skin can be donated and used for reconstruction (mtf.org).  However, I have not heard of burn units removing the skin.  If you think it is a possibility, then I would research hospitals that have major burn units and call them.  Let us know if you find out anything.

Fact.

Some of my early research was with AlloDerm, manufactured here in Houston by the Life Cell Corp.   We used it in some of the very first animal and human trials, now its widely used in burn patients and many other types of reconstruction.  It comes from human donors.
