Procedures: I had brachioplasty, breast lift and augmentation, Lower body lifft and a medial thigh lift the first time and and full thigh lift and lipo the second time. I did not have a full thigh lift the first time because Dr Sauceda said that would be too much and I do trust his judgment.
My experience with Dr Sauceda and Monterrey was great. I loved Monterrey and I think the world of Dr Sauceda as a surgeon and a person. He is so sweet and caring. Meeting him for the first moment was like meeting a friend I had not seen in a long time. He is so down to earth and friendly and easy to talk to, personable. I had already planned to go to another facility but I just couldn't get that 'warm and fuzzy' feeling. Anyway I was online on the Obesity Help site and I saw a post concerning Dr Sauceda. I did some research, emailed two of his patients, and after speaking with him I knew I had found my surgeon. (I cancelled my other appointment months in advance). The surgical facility was clean, modern and the staff quite competent and kind. The hotel (Hampton Inn) I stayed in is literally minutes from the facility and Dr Sauceda. The hotel was clean, modern and the staff very friendly and helpful and the front desk staff speaks english. Everything you could possibly need for your time there is available within a few minutes walking distance. If you speak spani**** helps but I had no problems relating what I needed. The HEB (like a wal-mart) next door even has a pharmacy in it. There are several restaurants around the hotel including familiars like Starbucks, Mcdonalds and Applebee's. We went shopping at one of the larger malls on day 8 I believe. We were there maybe 3 or 4 hours. It was probably a bit much but I wanted to get out and see Monterrey and get presents. I was tired when we got back but no issues.
The city is as safe as any like city in the states. We use common sense about places we go and not to go and it is the same there. I had absolutely no concerns while Iwas there as far as my safety was concerned no more so than I have here in Indy. Like most every city it has its beauty and it has its beast I 'm sure. Dr S gave us some practical information concerning our stay there which was simply don't go into alleys or flash money. I do the same thing wherever I go regardless.
The nurses at the facility speak very little english but it did not diminish their care. We always managed to get across what needed to be communicated. (hindsight I brought a english-spanish dictionary for my second round.
Dr Sauceda came to see me everyday whether I was in the facility or in the hotel. He gave me his cell phone number for me to call him anytime and he was sincere. I did call him and he always answered (him or his wife because he was in surgery
Pain was minimal. I was in the surgery clinic for 4 days and at the hotel the rest of the time. Dr Sauceda's wife is the anesthesiologist and before I left the prep room until I woke up the next day I don't remember a single thing. She is awesome! I was on intravenous pain medication and was quite comfortable. I was up and walking the second day. I was showering with help on the 3rd day. I was going to the bathroom by myself on day 3 after the catheter was removed. On the day that Dr S brought me back to the hotel, he gave me pain medication. I took one pill and never took another one. I didn't need it. I only used Tylenol from then forward for pain. I am grateful to say that I had no complications. The day before I left I had my stitches removed and Dr S and I walked back to the hotel because it was evening traffic time and it would have taken an hour to just go around the corner and down the street.
That's how comfortable I was with Dr S, Monterrey and my recovery. If I had to say what was the worst part of the process it is those darn drains. They are a necessary pain. I had more painful moments from adjusting to the drains than anything else. But again I am grateful because by the time I left all of my drains were removed.
My recovery has been good both times. The worst part of the process at this point is dry skin and itching of the scar areas. I have a condition I inherited from my father that can make my skin sensitive to touch but even with that I have healed well. My PCP is very pleased with how I have healed too. Dr Sauceda suggested I use the silicone sheets because I am prone to keloiding and it has made a difference between the 2 rounds of surgery.
If you decide to consult with him just be specific and honest about what you want and he will respond in kind. He will tell you what he can or can't do and your safety will always be first.
I would definitely recommend Dr Sauceda again and again and again, he ROCKS!

Thanks Antonette!
I loved reading about your time there! I always gain valuable information - i.e. the english/spanish dictionary! I hadn't thought of that!
I have heard so many good things about Dr S! I can't wait to meet him!
Can you please tell me the name of the silicone sheets? I'm sorry, I know you told me previously, but I can't remember. Thanks AGAIN!

My scars from my Lap Band surgery aren't so good! They are raised and purple - still have a year and a half. I put bio-oil on them as directed but it didn't nothing to help! I am going to get the silicone sheets! Thanks so much!
I hope you're well and enjoying your new tiny body!

I haven't confirmed with the plane ticket yet because I have a consult locally tomorrow, but I know I will be going to Dr. Sauceda. I just need the last consult for my own piece of mind, and to help me decide which procedures.
I've tentatively arranged for December 10th. When are you going? Which procedures are you having?
