Houston we have a problem...
I'll break it to you real....
I'm an addict and LOVE pain meds. I have lied, cheated and bought them off the street.
Now - that being said, #1 - my tolerance is higher than a mofo and #2- I am running outta bullshiot stories to tell to get 're-upped'
SO - Dr. Buford spotting my druggie arse at 30 yards and didn't refill my vicodin script - which did I ABSOLUTELY need it because I was in dire straits of pain? Nope. but damn you sho sleep betta when you are high......

Regarding your question about pain management........
I just had my Tummy Tuck (Anchor Cut) done 10 days ago and I am feeling fantastic. Just take the pills on schedule especially the first few days and you should do fine. If you wait too long to take the pain meds you will have pain.....don't try to be a hero! I've weaned myself down to taking 1 every 10 hrs but trust me, the first day I took 2 every 3 hrs no matter what. I told the nurses to wake me if it was pill time. Matthew was with me so he too made sure I got them on time and I gotta tell you I really have no major complaints. Being moved from the surgery center to the aftercare facility was the hardest part but I was pretty doped up so I don't really remember it being very painful just uncomfortable until they got me settled.
Good pain management and you should do fine.
Best wishes!

Met w/ Dr. Buford last week and was not impressed:
1. 1hr consult took almost 3hrs...why? I was waiting to be seen by the Dr. No curious check by the nurses or the Doc. or "sorry" for delay...totally inconsiderate. But I waited it out…I am determined.
2. (FINALLY) Met with the Dr. and had a good Q&A session. What shocked me is he didn’t show me any pics and he told me there is no hospital stay...basically, RIGHT after the surgery Im going str8 home...WOW!!!
3. I told them I was there just to get INFORMATION, but they were pushing hard for me to set a surgery date. I felt like I was at CarMax and a used carslsman was trying to sell me a lemon as if it was a luxury item. 4. They took pics…I told them (AGAIN) Im just here for INFORMATION…they insisted.

I used the Baylor Residency Program along with Dr L's assistance. They are an awesome team. I had my preops with all the drs and Dr L, Dr Bullocks (Baylor attending PS) and the Resident were all there the morning of surgery and have been there every step of the way. They will answer all your questions and give you the ins and outs of what to expect during and after surgery. They call every day to see how your drains are draining and to see how you are doing and if you have any questions. You also get to have a pain pump which really helps to numb the area for a few days. They will give you instructions on what meds you need to stop taking, what you might need at home, etc., etc. I think once you have consultations with different doctors, you will understand what is involved better and that will put your mind at ease. I started researching PS 2 years ago and have learned so much in the process. I almost didn't have anything to ask since I had learned so much along the way and on here. I think you will be very pleased with them.
