What did you take for pain after Surgery?

Thanks for your replies everyone.  My PS told me he was referred by one of the top WLS in Oklahoma.  So he shouldn't have been surprised when I refused the Advil.  But I gave in the last 2 days and took them because I was in pain.  I am going to call my WLS and ask if I can take them for a week, like my PS suggested.  If he says no, then I am going to call my PS and tell him my husband will be there for a refil on my perc.  HAVE IT READY!.  He has to understand that I'm not just being a baby or abusing it.  Before I posted this I thought maybe I was.  But to hear that most people still hurt makes me feel normal at least.  I think I do OK most of the time.  But When Im in pain I'm in pain!!!  Dangit!
Thanks for your replies and making me feel like I don't have to be wonderwoman here!!!!

I'm allowed by my surgeon to take IBProfen or advil only when i take an RX antiacid with it. So it's a two pill pop - one pepcid, one ibprofen.  I dont like to do it too often because some docs say you shouldn't, but it does help with the swelling, etc.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner to respond.  How are you doing now?  I hope the pain is better for you.
I had my TT, MR and Breast Lift the day before you (Sept 2).
I was sent home on Percocet 7.5-325 M Tab too.  I took 2 every 3 hours the first day and then dropped to 1 tab every 3 hrs for the next 3-4 days.  About every 2 days I drop the dose.....I still have 4 pills left as of tonight.  I'm taking 1 every 10 hrs at this point.  I'm sure I'll have to switch to Aleeve and maybe Ibuprofen by Monday.  I see my surgeon on Tues and will ask his input.

I sure hope you are having some relief from pain by now.

I'm doing much better.  I've been through my weepy days and my poor husband.  I think I feel more sorry for him then I do for  me.   They gave me another script for perc but I'm only taking it once or twice a day.  I'm not in much pain now, mostly just discomfort.  Yesterday I woke up and I cried and cried several times during the day.  My grandmother passed away in February and I miss her so much.  But these good "drugs" I'm on make me dream a lot.  I had a dream and she was there.  You know how when you are a kid and your momma makes everything better?  Well, she was like my momma and she was hugging me and comforting me and when I woke up I didn't feel bad but I just cried and cried.  Heck, today I cried over a humming bird story.  I'm kinda crazy like that!  LOL! 

I am kind of sore from the lipo now.  I have really tender spots but nothing I can't handle.  I was worried about taking Ibuprofen because Im RNY but I talked to my WLS and they said I have to take an over the counter medication with it to be able to take it.  So I'm doing that.  I went today and got some better compression garments at Burlington. (My PS office said I don't have to use the ones they had.  They were giving me blisters)  I feel better when I can control the swelling.  Even though they said I can take the IB I still don't like too, I think that might also help with swelling.  (I don't know that for sure, I just assume since its an anti inflamitory that it would)

I hope you are doing well.  Are you feeling close to back to normal?  Today has been my best day yet.  I had to take a nap though.  LOL, thats probably a lot because its been raining all weekend too!

Glad you are feeling a bit better.

We are so similar!  My grandma was always my best friend and my biggest support and cheerleader.  Sadly it was only from her that I have ever felt loved unconditionally.  She passed away in 2002 in the middle of my getting divorced...it was a VERY bad time in my life.  I still miss her terribly and still cry from time to time.  At least now I can look at her pictures without bursting into tears.  

Anyhow........I'm doing all I can to control and reduce the swelling in my legs and butt.  I didn't take any pain pills today and will see if I can make it through the night........I might just take a couple of aleeve tonight.  I want to keep 2 pills for Tuesday when I go to the surgeon to have my drain removed, steri-strips removed and the lines for the on-Q pump.  Not looking forward to this at all so I'm hoping if I take a pill a couple hrs before and then another after I should be pretty good for the afternoon.  :-)
