I lost my 'sweet spot'!

I've spent most of my time sleeping since I was released from the hospital on Saturday morning. The incisions from my LBL have made it hard to move around and to find a comfortable position to rest in.

I do get up to pee and walk a 'victory lap' around the kitchen table a few times a day.

I sleep for a few hours curled up in a fetal position on my side with pillows surrounding me and tucked between my knees. Eventually the leg I'm resting on gets tired and sore and I have to flip over. This is the only thing that works for me. I tried laying on my back. OUCH!!! I even tried laying on my tummy with pillows underneath....not working with drains.

Since returning from my post-op visit to my surgeon (he removed bandages today!)  the fetal curl isn't working anymore....and uhhh, (how do I say this?) my hoochie hurts where the drains are coming out of me. How do I get comfortable again?!?!

Most surgeons recommend a "beach chair" position--- on your back, with head elevated, and a pillow beneath your knees. You may have to try this and dope yourself to sleep for a while.

I'm 10 weeks out and still sleep in this position, but like you cannot roll, so once I am uncomfortable--after 4-5 hours, I'm done, whether I am actually done or not!

I don't know which surgery you had, but frankly sleeping and peeing is all there is to life for a few weeks, for some of us.  So if you're also getting in a few victory laps around the kitchen table, you're doing really quite well!

I have to second Juniper's "beach chair position" ideal ... that's it for me.  I spend a few minutes getting settled in and doped up until I'm unconscious (and somewhat more healed) in the morning.  This is a MUCH bigger, MUCH larger, MUCH more intense experience than WLS -- so just hang in there!

It's all going to get better from here!

I tried a recliner for a few days until my tail bone went completely numb.... So then I headed into bed. I'm a left side sleeper so I tucked some pillows under by back on my right side so I was partially on my left side but ohhhhhhhhh did my tail bone feel better.... it worked the trick. i slept that way for about a wee****il I didn't need the pillows any longer.

The hooch thing... yeah it's gonna be a little sore, try putting a little antibiotic ointment with a pain reliever around the spots. that may be enough to take a little of the soreness away.

I have to agree with the above posters too.  My only 2 cents is for the drains hurting.  I know the drain pain,  Mine were also placed in my hoochie area.  The thing that helped me with that was taping them to me, so that they would not move.  Find somewhere to tape them.  I taped them to the upper part of my stomach, kinda near the sides.  Someone told me to tape them to your legs.  Whatever works for you.  I taped them so they would not move.  About a foot from where they are coming out.  Then I pinned the actual grenade thing to my pj's.  This made it so much easier to do things.  Like going to the bathroom.

I took all the drain lines and taped them together and then taped them to my upper leg, allow enough room for movement. Then, I put all the bulbs in a little plastic sandwich bag and pinned that to my binder. It took me a couple of weeks to figure that one out, but worked out the rest of the time I had my drains. Good luck, you will love your plastics as soon as you get your drains out. They are a "necessary evil!!" :-)..
