i am 14 days post op from having LBL in corpus christi tx. i would have used dr lomanaco had i been in the houston area. my recovery has gone superb. going back to work today in fact (just desk job). my pain was easily controlled with loritab for 2 days and advil since. i had 15 lbs removed, results are unbelievable even at this stage. can't wait to see the future results. still have one drain in, but all staples were removed at day 10. good luck to you.

ps---i was still 35 lbs from ever reaching goal and was still able to have my surgery. i have maintained my loss from RNY since june of 07, so dr said i was ok to go ahead with my surgery. he told me at 52 yrs of age, me seeing goal weight of 150 was not likely. most of my loose skin was just that, skin. he said very little of all 15 lbs removed was fat.

Some people never do get to a "normal" bmi so think the important thing is being at a stable weight for a period of time.  It will also depend on where you carry your weight.  I think you have gotten some great advice on surgeon selection.  I just wanted to tell you that if you are planning on trying to get insurance to cover your plastics -- now is the time to start documenting the issues the skin is causing.  Get your insurance policy and start researching how your insurance plan defines medical necessity.  If you get rashes and irritations do not self treat!  Go to your PCP or dermatologist and get that stuff documented in your medical records.  You will want to document something akin to "persistent on-going issues".  This means going to the doctor more than once and demonstrating that creams and antibiotics are not effective, over time.  If you start now when you do get ready for plastics you will have already established a good case for medical necessity.

Dr. LoMonaco says not until your weight is stabilized for 6 months. In other words, if you are still losing you need to wait. I'm definately still in the overweight range and had a tummy tuck and a buttlift, which is essentially a lower body lift done in two parts.

Can't tell you about arm lift, but I didn't have that much pain with the other procedures. Sure, it's going to hurt, but certainly not unbearable. I had much more pain with my gallbladder.

Dr L's phone number is 713-526-5550. Set up a consultation and he'll answer all your questions.

Since I have never had a desire to be at a "normal" BMI I can tackle that part of your question.  It is preferred that after WLS you be staple for at least 6 months.

The doctor I am using based out of Newport Beach, CA Dr. Agha likes his patients with a little fat on their bones so that he can use it to shape and contour your body into a very femine hour glass figure!
