Pain? how long? Houston?

Ok, I know this is a stupid question, but how painful is a arm lift?  What about a lower body lift?

I know I still have a ways left to go before I am ready, but I am curious, how long after losing weight is the soonest you can get these procedures?

Can you have it even if you are still in the overweight range?

Also, does anyone know of good surgeons who do reconstructive surgery for us WLS people in Houston Texas?  I imagine there are a few but we have so many doctors, its hard to figure out who is good.

I cannot help you with pain because I am preop and don't have surgery until October 8th, but Dr Lomonaco is in Houston, and I hear he is the best.  He posts on this board as well and helps people out that have questions.  He is known for his expertise in WLS patients and is featured on the show, Big Medicine.

I am about 7 lbs from being in the normal range for BMI, so I am still considered overweight.  I am having a lower body lift, breast lift/augmentation, medial thigh lift, and lipo with fat injections to the butt done.   I am traveling to Mexico to have Dr Sauceda do my surgery due to the price difference.

Good luck!

FYI...Dr. L from Houston and Dr. Sauceda from Mexico are both going to be at the Dallas OH Conference on September 26th.  Dr. L is a speaker at the conference.

Body contouring results are best if one has a normal BMI - that's the consensus of opinion from all six of the surgeons I consulted with prior to my work a few years ago.  I was stable for six months prior to surgery.  Both surgeries are painful, the LBL a little more so.  The drugs, percocet, in my case, worked fine.  I used these for a few days following each surgery and after that, just tylenol.

Everyone is right about Dr LoMonico - he's excellent.  Lots of ladies here have had work done with him.  You are fortunate to be close to him.

Thanks.  Normal BMI isnt likely in my future, but I know it does look better.  But when you start out where I was, the skin issue is really uncomfortable.  I just hope that it will be available to me in the future :)

Anyone know what hospital Dr. LoMonoico does surgery?  I am actually 15 minutes from the med center.

I believe he is only using University General Hospital and Houston Center for Specialized Surgery (for outpatient surgeries), but I heard soon he may be doing surgeries at Memorial Hermann Memorial City.

University Hospital is close to the medical center.

I just had surgey with him and he used Houston Hospital of Specialized surgery for my LBL and BL.  He also uses University General as well.  He has been doing cases with Baylor College of Medicine and the prices are at a discounted rates.  There is a post about this further down.  Just contact his office and ask about it.  I am very happy with my results.  If I do my arms and thighs together, we will most like use University General.  I hear that hospital is top notch.

I haven't had my arms done, but the LBL is more painful than the arm lift from what I hear.  The LBL is manageable with pain meds. The first few days are the worst but it gets better each day.  It is so worth it though.

Good luck!

I have heard several great raves about Dr Lomanaco in Houston. The obesity help conventions are a good place for information. I went to the one in Chicago and it was very informative and gave me the opportunity to meet people on the board.

If you do go to the Dallas OH convention, Dr Francisco Sauceda is my surgeon and he is totally AWESOME. He is suppose to be there. He is in Monterrey MX .

Enjoy the journey!
