Please I need outside advice!
If your family is telling you to have the surgery then do it. It'll be a hard time for all but life does have to go on. Just remember the pain they are also dealing with and maybe ask friends to help you at little more.
Kim... as I sit here with tears in my eyes I can truly say I know how you're feeling. My grandmother passed away extremely unexpectedly New Years morning. Here's my advice to you and my words of encouragement from my heart.
The last time I saw my grandmother was Christmas day. All day she kept telling me how proud she was of me and how much she loved me. When I kissed her good-bye before leaving my very last words to her were I love you... and she said the same to me. I truly believe that it's because of her work upstairs with my guardian angels why I was able to come up with the financing to have my surgery... She loved me so much and was so proud of all I had accomplished.
If your FIL was like a father to you.... HE WOULD BE SO ANGRY if you put off your surgery because of him. He truly loves you and is so proud of all that you've done to make yourself so healthy. He would never ever want you to put off this surgery. He will completely understand and trust me, he will be there with you the day of your surgery (in 1 way or another).... Go to him when you know you can have a little alone time with him and talk to him. Let him know how guilty you feel and tell him you love him. I know in you're heart you'll find peace and the strength to make your decision which ever way it is.
I'll keep your FIL in my prayers cause I know how empty my heart is every single day for Gram. Hugs,
