For those of you that have had an experience with the On Q pain pump or similiar device, would you mind filling me in on your experience?

1.  Do you feel it aided in pain management?

2.  How long was it "in place" and how long did you feel it was effective?

3.  Did you also have iv medication to aide in pain management or was it JUST the on Q pain pump?

4.  Did your surgeon also inject the muscle with additional anesthetic or simply rely on the on Q?

5.  What type of surgeries did you have that you used the on Q.

6.  Any draw backs from your point of view?

Thanks in advance

Hi Kim,

I had it.  It was worth it.

1. Yes it aided in the pain mangaement.  It numbed the area.  I actually slept on my side while I had it.

2.  I had surgery on a Monday, and I was told to remove it Thursday.  Very easy to do.

3.  While in the hospital, I did have Iv meds with it.  At home I had Vicodin.

4.  Nothing injected into the muscle.

5.  I had a vertical tummy tuck.

6.  No draw backs at all.

For me it was worth it's weight in gold.  It worked for about three days after my LBL.  I did not get any muscle injections.  It came out easily - my surgery was easy.
