X-Post Have You Used Reglan to Treat Nausea After Surgery?

I just got my prescriptions from my plastic surgeon to fulfill before surgery and Reglan is one of them. My research tells me it's to prevent nausea from the other medications I will be taking after my LBL, butt lift and augmentation, mons lift, spiral thighplasty and fleur de lis tummy tuck, because I am very sensitive to pain medicine.

I will be taking Percocet, will have a Fentayl patch and will also be taking an antibiotic. I also got a script for a stool softener, but that has never been a problem for me in the past after surgery, so I won't fill that one.

Any and all experiences with Reglan would be very appreciated! How long did you take it? Did it work wonders for you?

Nausea is my greatest concern with surgery, I always get sick from anesthesia and most pain medications, so I am hopeful this will make a difference for me. I can't imagine recovering from these procedures with little or no pain medication - which I have done in the past.

Thanks,

The reglan  didn't worl for me I use Zofran post -op and I only need it as long as I am taking pain medication, which I don't take to long because I can't stand  to be nauseous. The nausea is worse  then the pain
Good Luck to you

I was in the hospital for 5 days after WLS because of nausea. Reglan didn't work for me at all. I'm afraid to have plastics because I get so sick from meds. Good luck

Jillian-
I hope everything goes well for you.  I have used diladid after all of my plastic surgeries.

Dilaudid is a narcotic for pain, and it can actually cause nausea, you are lucky it didn't make you nauseous,

Reglan has an antiemetic effect, and speeds gastric emptying.  I'm not sure if patients with a  bypass or band respond to it as effectively as those with an unaltered GI tract.

My standard is Zofran, and the dissolving tabs are quick and effective for most patients.

I had a horrible reaction and now all my files are marked NO REGLAN.

I experienced:

Severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest) abnormal thinking; confusion;  hallucinations; mental or mood changes (eg, depression, anxiety, agitation, jitteriness); severe or persistent restlessness, including inability to sit still; shortness of breath; stiff or rigid muscles;  suicidal thoughts; uncontrolled muscle movements (eg, of the arms, legs, tongue, jaw, cheeks; twitching; tremors)

I wanted to die and would have jumped from my hospital window, if I'd been able.
