Does anyone have Cal Pers Blueshield HMO or PPO and had plastic surgery approved.  I have the hmo and was considering the ppo to see if I could get things approved.  Any one have experience with either?  If so, what documentation did your doctor submitt to get things approved.?

Last year when I was at the point of deciding between the HMO or PPO plan, I called the surgeon I was interested in using and asked them.  Surprisingly enough they recommended the HMO.  The PPO does not do pre-auths, so they found that it was harder to get paid rather than with the HMO that pre authorizes and you know exactly what they will/.will not pay.

I have Michigan Blue Care Network. The ppo was through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mich.

You can also call the insurance company and find out what they have to say.
