burning sensation

I had my arm lift on 7-24 almost two weeks ago.  In the beginning the pain was very minor, however these last 3 or 4 days have been awful.  It's not that I have pain exactly, it's severe numbness, tingling, and then sporadic shooting pains runnning up and down my arms.  Now for the past two days, my entire arms feel like they are burned, so they are extremely sore to the touch.  EXTREMELY, meaning I can't have anyone touch or even accidentally rub up against my arm because of the burning pain.  Is this normal.  It's pretty difficult to deal with!

Hello,

I had brachioplasty surgery this past February, and I experienced those exact symptoms, and quite honestly, I still do from time to time.  You're right - the burning sensation was the worst for me as well.  It's not as often now, but from time to time I still experience those symptoms.  I have a lot of numbness down the entire backs of my arms.  This may remain forever, or at least for a very long time.  When I had my C-section 28 years ago, I experienced numbness from that surgery, and it has continued to this very day.  I learned that when the nerves and muscles are cut, those areas are compromised, and that in most cases they never are the same again.   For me, it's been a good trade...

Take care,
Rose

Yep.....I know exactly what you are talking about!
I had it at about the 2 week mark too.  That's the nerves starting to wake up and trying to re-connect.
The bad news is it lasted about 10 days (for me), the good news it does go away.

I did find wearing the compression garment gave me some relief.....

It's a normal part of healing......
I sympathize with you, I hated it when it happened after my Brachio too!
Hang in there

Thank God!  at least I know it's normal.  I seriously thought something was wrong and I was the only one experiencing these symptoms.  Thanks to both of you for responding!
