Fleur de lis Tummy Tuck????

Hi!
I've been meeting with lots of surgeons discussing options for my lower body work.

For the first time today a surgeon suggested a Fleur de lis Tummy Tuck because of the excess skin and laxity in my stomach above my belly button (there is plenty below the belly button too!).  He said he could do it the other way but I need to be realistic and should expect some remaining loose skin in the middle area........so he strongly recommends I do the Anchor Cut or Fleur-de-lis (with muscle tightening).

I've never really researched this......I really wasn't prepared for a scar running down the middle of my torso.  I don't want to just rule it out with educating myself first sooooooo I'm hoping some of you who have had this done can help me out.

Are you happy you did it this way?
Do you feel you got better results?
How is the scar?
Did anyone opt not to do this and later regret it?

Any help and any pictures you can share sure would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!
I'll pay it forward when I'm all done so the newbies of the future get the help they need too.

Thanks!!

I just had my anchor tummy tuck june 29th of this year.  I am 56 yrs old and had lost 187 pounds.  I had a lot of skin upper and lower and of course the elasticity is not the same as when we are younger.  The doctor suggested this to give me a more sculptured outline,  If i didn't do the vertical cut then i would have had a (muffin top) hanging over slightly.  I had the lap gastric bypass so only had the 5 little incissions so i wasn't all that keen on the cut vertically either.  When thinking it over i opted for the anchor cut to give me the best figure i could get.  I LOVE WHAT I DID!!!!!!!!.  Only being 4 weeks out i have the finest little line for scars.  I have been told by the nurses AND the plastic surgeon i have healed very well and quickly.

I keep stopping and looking in the mirror.  I love my figure and along with my breast lift.  I am going for a check up this thursday and hoping to book my surgery for my arms.  I'm sorry i don't have any pictures to show.  The doctor i had was Michael Kreidsten from Toronto.

Good Luck with your decission.  If you want to talk about this anymore i'd be glad to or on the phone .

It's kind of hard to compare when you can only speak from what you had done.  That said, I knew from the get go that I wanted an anchor cut since I already had a vertical scar.  Besides, I don't plan on wearing a bikini so even if I didn't have the scar, I would have opted for it because I didn't want to have a muffin top.  I wanted the best result possible and didn't want to risk being unhappy or wishing I had done it later.  I have seen some people on here through the years who wish they had done it.  Now keep in mind it all depends on how you are shaped, how much skin you have and where it is located.  There are some people on here who don't look that bad to me and their excess skin is minimal at best.  They are the ones who normally get good results with your basic TT.  Your dr really is the best one to determine what would give you the best result.  I think the skin eventually does loosen up to a certain degree anyway just because our skin doesn't have the same elasticity as someone who was never obese.  And yes, I'm very happy with my anchor cut.

Thanks so much for the input.
I never really thought of doing it this way but always wondering how pulling the skin straight down would take care off all the loose stuff on the sides and in the upper gut.  It makes sense to me what he said I just need to hear from others who did it if they are happy.
The Dr thinks he can give me great results......very flat stomach and narrow waist.....sounds nice!

I definitely do not want a "muffin top"!

Thanks again!

Are you happy you did it this way?
Thrilled. I wouldn't do it any other way. I'm frankly not sure why anyone would.

Do you feel you got better results?
MUCH better. I find the LBLs and other tucks I have seen look boxy and squarish. I have a very tapered wasp-waist and prefer it.

How is the scar?
I already had a scar from emergency bowel surgery, so he used the same one. Looks the same. heals to a thin line, though...already very light.
